Why does burned popcorn smell linger longer than a dead fish?

I baked an apple pie this morning and it smelled so good in here, now all you can smell is burned popcorn.

maybe because the smoke from the burned popcorn gets into the fabric that you have in your home like your curtains or furniture try opening the windows and spraying some febreeze on all fabrics. don't forget to spray the kitchen curtains if you have them.
