I am currently asking this question in the baby section but maybe more people will know in Home and Garden.

I have purchased a 2nd hand cot and want to stain it.
What sort of stain will I need and what are some basic tips on getting started - eg hand or machine sand, what type of paper or do i use a stripping agent. Best way to apply?

Thanks for the help :)

My bird died and I was digging a grave for it and as I was digging, at about 20 cm in the ground I noticed two round balls, they look like tapeworms curled into a round ball. As I examined it a little closer I noticed that a little bit was moving. There are two and right now they're placed in an air tight plastic container. I would like to know what it could possibly be. And if it is dangerous in any way how should I get rid of it?
Thank you!

From a leather jacket. It was put in to storage a couple of years ago and apparently the box got wet and the jacket is mildewed. I don't want to get rid of the Jacket because it was my husband's. He passed away from leukemia and I want to be able to give this jacket to our daughter.

I wanta be prepared if there is an earthquake cause of the predictions of the intercontenantial and magnetic drift coming in 2012.

I was wondering how long the cement sand mix used as a grout between slabs takes to go off. I used a mixture of between 3 or 4 of sand to 2 of cement. I used a dry mix.

Sump pump runs alot and it was found that the water is not from the drain tiles but from the crock liner holes that are scattered in equal distances apart. I wonder if this is necessary or common to have all of those holes?

Same as the subject. I have a piece of glassware I'd like to boil clean, but it has a really cool design painted on it. Is it still safe? It feels like it's been laquered, but I'm not sure and I don't want to ruin it.

We had a new house built and it is all white and I am dying to paint, but Im so nervous and cant seem to find the perfect colors! Im thinking maybe an lovely earthy yellow and some dark plummy colors, but im not sure. I love rich colors (jewel tones especially!), but I also dont want all the walls to be dark. The whole first floor is very open, so Im thinking it may be best to use a lighter color all over and accents in darker ones, I dont know!?! Any help would be great! The house is pretty large and we dont have everything to fill it up yet so I'd like to at least have some actual color on the walls. This is a link to pictures of the first floor of my house and my kitchen, and farther down the page is a picture of me holding a dog on a couch and that is the color of our couch and chair, and our wood furniture (table etc) is as dark or darker than the kitchen cabinets. Thank you so much for your help in advance!

I bought a 20 year old house about 3 years ago. I haven't really used the fireplace, because I don't know if the chimney is clean. You cannot look down it from the roof because there's a cap on it, and you cannot see past the flu from inside. Any ideas?

I am stuck in my room because the door knob is broken. I managed to take one of the screws out of the door knob with a ruler. However, the other screw is stuck. I tried a metal ruler, a plastic ruler, a name-tag, scissors, a nickel, a dime, and the side of a key. Someone outside my room tried to jiggle the door knob open. Sufice it to say, I am still in my room. How do I get out my room?

I have tried to pull it back into place but it will not go back. It still works fine, spins makes no noises, realy cleans the cloths just as well. Its just you can see the outside of the drum. How do I fix this?

I have a plant i recently bought from IKEA.... I know, clitch. Anyways, this is my second experiance with an IKEa plant, the first being an Aloe that died..... I need to identify what sort of plant i just bought because it didn't come with identification and IKEA doesn't list it's plants. It's a green plant that seeems to grow in a cluster like grass. It has a pointed leaves that go up the plant in pairs like a ladder though the leaves themselves are separate from each other. The pointed leaves remind me of maple leaves. Please help, this is my only real chance left to see if i actually have a black thumb or not and I can't do that if I don't know how to grow the plant...

I put garlic in a glass bottle with a plastic seal inside. (silly idea) The glass is fine, but the plastic part smells awful! It's a good bottle and I don't think it will seal properly without the plastic.
