I have a leak in my roof that I believe is a result from old flashing that has deteriated. I'm not really a do-it-yourselfer, but I got up there and slapped a bunch of roofing tar stuff from Home Depot around what I thought would be the suspect area. It seemingly has done nothing and I freak out every time it rains now. FYI- The roof is probably close to 20 years old. I live near Cleveland and the average temperature is starting to fall into the 30s. Is it even possible to have this done now? I know I need the whole roof replaced but I am just trying to get through the winter and will consider that in the spring.

There is a house just down the road from where I live that has a very overgrown garden. The brambles are at least as tall as me (5 foot) The property is private (not a council house or I would have reported it to the local council), all around it is rubbish such as car parts, empty bottle crates, ripped bin bags with rubbish spilling out.I'd be very worried if it was right next door to me.All the other houses around here are well kept.Is there anything that can be done in order to get the occupants to clean up? Surely it is a health risk and would draw vermin to the area, we have seen rats close by.The house right next door to it is undergoing renovation and is not yet occupied.

Obviously I don't want it in my closet, and the laundry room is in the basement. I don't want visitors checking out my laundry in the bathroom, so where can I keep it?

I am doing a Science Fair project and need to laminate my notecards to water-proof them. I tried with plastic wrap (bad idea!) and my mom suggested laminating them. I don't know where to find a laminate machine though and I've been looking online for some time. I really need this FAST!

It is a single oven which has the grill element attached at the top and I think this is what is causing the smoke. I've tried to clean it but its difficult as the grill element cannot be removed so I am not able to give the top of the oven a good clean. Do I need a new oven?

this is the way i done it, i bought a meter length of 3.5mm steel cable which has eyelets at either side, i anchor bolted the cable to the wall using 95mm long and 14mm thick anchor bolts, the ones with the metal sleve as opose to the plastic, my tv has two hooks on the back as the previous owner had his suspended using the same size of cable through his ceiling joists, when i bolted the cable on the wall i physicaly climbed up my wall holding on to the cable and tryed to pull it out using my feet against the wall as leverage, and it didnt budge, obviously the tv wont put that much strain on it as the waight will be pulling downwards, and not outwards as i was doing, so its hanging like a picture in theory, do you think it will be ok, thanks

my garden is SUPER over grown with brambles, after many hours of slave labour, i've managed to thin them all out. My question is, how do i get rid of the little stumps left without having to dig them out one by one....will regular mowing kill them off?

I got a little problem with my favourite white sweater. 2 weeks ago I spilled red wine on it and forgot to clean it out right away. I tried to wash it twice already and even by using a vinegar based bleaching agent I can’t get the stains out. So do any of you have some good tips on how to remove stubborn wine stains. I prefer to have some home made remedies then just products. However all help Is welcome. Best answer will get 10 points.

I'm looking to varnish a painted pvc pipe. I'm not sure if I should even use varnish, I just need to make it scratch and mark resistant.

Thanks in advance!

The smoke was coming from the vent area where the light bulb is. I immediately unplugged the microwave and the smoke stopped but I'm wondering if the microwave is a potential hazard and if I should put it outside in case it decides to catch on fire in the middle of my sleep tonight? I live in an apartment and I was thinking of putting it out on the balcony to protect me and my cat. Should I do anything else, call the fire department and have them take it?

I inherited a 34,000 sq. ft. lot and I really want to build a house on it. Nothing too fancy. Maybe a 1,500 sq. foot 2 bedroom 2 bathroom house, single level. I am completely ignorant to this sort of thing and don't want to get ripped off.
Does anyone have any idea about how to even start this project?

I live in a rented home. Tonight I was sitting at the computer when I heard the only toilet in the home make a sound. I flushed it and discovered it was clogged, so I used the plunger. While using the plunger, the sink in the bathroom started to make a gurgling sound and I smelled a foul smell. What could be going on? What can I do to correct this? Should I call my landlord, hire a plumber? Also, is it okay to still use the toilet and sink? Thanks!

its been a long time since my dad put a light switch in but just last week we just put in a light switch in for the back porch light (outside) its running on 2 seperate outlets and but when we turn the light switch on it works then on the off, it trip the breaker on the breaker box off. how do i help my dad with it?
is the light switch suppost to have a 2 gold screw for the wire or just copper and silver? the wire also have a ground too but we have to use one wire and connect other ground around it because it wouldnt fit in the ground screw.

*** we checked the light, wire, breaker, outlets*** so nothing is broken.

the plans showed the a/c duct work going up a column in the media room. ( not visable ) We plubmed for a wet bar on the back wall. The builder ran the duct work differently causing the duct work to come in to the room. They sloped the ceiling in to the room right over where the wet bar was to go, so now we have this 45 degree slope in the back of the room. They say the roof line won't allow it to go up the column. We had to force a meeting to get the mto stop, but they kept going, and said there was nothing that they could do.
Do we have any rights?

It belongs to a 22-year old guy with mental illness & suicide thoughts...coming home from the hospital. The room is very small & I'm getting rid of everything except his computer. I don't want any reminders of the old. The blinds & the walls are white. I don't have enough time to paint the walls.
Any suggestions would do. Colors, smells, paintings, adding curtains etc...

Thanks in advance.
