I am trying to install a mains water filter. This has a 3/4'' female threaded inlet and outlet to which I am attaching threaded male brass connectors. The problem is that it is still weeping slightly despite use of quite a lot of ptfe tape. I have dismantled, re-assembled and replaced the ptfe tape about half a dozen times but I can't seem to stop the weep. The filter is plastic (tho' it seems to be very good quality -or that is very expensive anyway) so I am a little worried that if i tighten too much it might crack. I have no problem with the brass-to-brass reducer that attaches to the brass connector, so I don't see what I am doing wrong. The supplier says ptfe tape should work (I asked if a rubber or fibre washer would help)....any ideas? is there a sealant I could get maybe? Thanks

It was 4 feet 69 (the cucumber, not the hog), and was like a child for us. We pinned all our hopes in its wining.

The cold water taps in my bathroom are not running or just trickling, is it possible that I may have an air lock somewhere in the system? If so, how do I confirm this and how do I go about fixing it? Many thanks!

Yes, tired of looking at the stuff even after I wash this tub/shower.
IT's the sides of the acrylic shower that seem real stubborn.
Don't want to look at it anymore + my arms get tired fast from scrubbing because I'm a woman w/weak arms [they are petite, lol] ...
anyway WHAT in the world can I use to soak the junk off b4 I even get started on scrubbing this off??
Thanks

I have an old dresser that's kinda ugly (paint is flat chocolate color, but I don't feel like scraping all the paint off just to stain and varnish it. Is there some kind of paint or stain I can just slap on top of the old paint to make it look semi-nice?

My grandfather lives right on the lake and all summer I was noticing this weird growth on the base of a large branch (what is left of one that must have come down in a storm at some point). It is a very pale yellow color, and almost seemed to look "dirty" as the weather dropped, but the last time I was up there, the "fungus" (if that's what it is) was still there. It's large, and doesn't resemble anything I've found on the internet. It just looks like someone sprayed a pale yellow foam/whipped cream for about 2 and half feet (in length) and most of the way around the entire circle of the branch.

Any ideas?

I am moving my own one bedroom apartment. I have a bathroom that is no wider then a standard shower/ washer and dryer put together. There is a sink, but no mirror. How can I make a sexy bathroom, where there will be a washer and dryer? I also can't paint the apartment, or do anything permanent. I was wondering if I could tile it myself, but how would I tile the walls and maybe the floor? with out it being permanent?

I just moved into a 'new' old house this fall and am having trouble with my heat. The Heater in the basement is making a loud banging noise at the top of the heater where a pressure release valve appears to be. This happens when the furnace is at 150F and around 10 PSI. It looks like the valve is releasing pressure then slamming shut. Because the pressure gauge drops from 10 to 0 in time with the banging. Is this a defective valve? Other problem?

When I open the valve, the banging stops, but the temperature rises dramatically, and steam is released. Then after a few minutes the banging starts up again.

I don't have any bleeder valves on the ends of the baseboards it appears to be a continuous system, so there may be air in the pipes, but I am not sure how to get it out?

Please help its driving us crazy.......

So I have tried everything! New soap, the soap in the packets, jetdry. *sigh*

What is happening is that the dishes are not getting that clean. The dishwasher leaves little pieces of crud on the dishes. Which amazes me because I always clean the dishes super well by hand before loading. And it is also leaving white (soap?) residue on my dishes. My glasses are chalky white! Can this be fixed by me (a generally non-handy-gal) or am I doomed for another? I really want to try and fix it myself, it is only 2 years old.
Thanks all!!!!!!

Hi, everyone. I was given a gift, an amarillys plant a few days ago. I've been really paranoid because I cannot have it die on me, because the person who gave me it will get upset (I think). Today, my little brother tilted it and the stem kind of broke but not totally. Do you think it will still live? I have it propped up but I'm not really a floral person. Thank you so much for your feedback!
