the dry powder is boric acid powder. do not use if you have little pets running around. Also cutting up cucumbers in a dish and leaving it on the counter of the kitchen helps. Roaches do not like the smell of cut cucumber, it will not kill them but they will go somewhere else.
Roaches will not go in your ear and hurt you so do not worry. Also you can have a spotless house and they may still come in from outdoors, they just want to live somewhere. Many people collect bugs and roaches are (gross) but not harmful. Take the tour at the Smithsonian in DC sometime, the live bug section is interesting. Also they claim that roaches are not really disease carriers as most people think. but they are gross.

There are a few things that will help, but not completely solve your problem. Buy the little roach motels. Combat or whatever brand you would like.
Take some orange peels and hide them in the cabinets and stuff. That is a natural roach repelent, but will not kill them. Just don't put them too close to the combat things or the roaches wont go near them.
Get a spray. Spray the inside of your cupboards, under the sinks and along the floor/wall/ cabinet joints. Obviously you will have to do this when your dad isn't home.
And of course keep up on the daily maintenance (not leaving food out) and cleaning dishes, etc to keep them from wanting to be there. Hopefully that all combined will help it get better, but the only way to really solve it is to get a professional.

Catch some of the little wood lizards that live in woodpiles. They are pinkish with dark spots, and smaller than chameleons. They do not like the light and are extremely fast. They will take care of your roach problem and any other insect problem you have. Just turn them loose in your house, they will get in your walls and you will never see or hear them. That way, there are no chemicals to bother your dad and soon there will be no roaches. Make sure you don't leave any food or dirty dishes laying about. That only attracts roaches.

we use Combat Roach Killing Gel in our rental houses that sometimes get infested, it is easy and there is no spray, and it works. You can get it at Home Depot or Lowes or somewhere like that. It is a gel, and you squirt little strips on your baseboards, or in your cupboards, under your sink, etc, they eat it and take it back to their nests and die. Keeping your house clean will not help when your house is already infested because they get inside your walls and other places you can't get at.
And yes, they CAN get into your ears, that is not an urban legend. It will be cheaper to get the gel than to take you to the doctor to have your ears cleaned out, tell your dad that.
Read about roaches in the ears, it is very common:

My older brothers house is infested with roaches and it is at the point were there is really nothing he can do. In your case the fact that you see small ones means that their where older ones to give birth to them. If the sprays bother your dad u can always get the roach motels put those around the kitchen and maybe one or two around the legs on your bed. They also sell a powder and glue type paste you can put around the corners of the wall in the kitchen to keep them away from the sink they love damp places so thats where most of the work should be done. Hope it was helpful.

Sprayin them is the only option. keep one spray can just for your bedroom and spray it around and under your bed in the morning before going to school, so the smell wont be there when you come back and definately they would be scared to come back in there. you do have to educate your dad and you have to spray if he dosnt want to. you can also buy roach baits and put them inside kitchen cupboards till they disappear. keeping your kitchen food scrap free will help alot.

tear the house down..lol
what i meant was spray your house with disinfectant (assuming you're old enough already to do it)..clean out all the garbage and if possible, burn them..wash all the linen/clothes you think were made "nests" of the roaches..keep your house clean..and most of all PRAY that the roaches won't harm you (you gotta thank heavens that you're only dealing with roaches and not rats.. ;-))

Make sure you hang dish rags to dry and away from the kitchen sink as I heard before that they like to hatch eggs in any thing that is wet or damp, make sure that you hang damp or wet things up to dry and keep the sink areas free of dishes and or rags too.I had this problem before too from a friends whose children brought some diaper bags that had them, now their gone and my place is roach free .Good luck.
