My wife (who's from Colombia) made a selection of 'fritos' last night, they were delicious! However, before I met her, I was not much into deep pan frying and now I realize I don't know what to do with the maybe 1-inch deep pan of oil which is left. I remember my mum used to save the oil when I was a kid, but I vaguely remember learning since then that that's not the best thing to do. Right now, I have simply bottled up the oil in empty water bottles - I'm not going to use it again. But should I just throw them in the bin now? Take them some where, or what?!?

We have 1 tomato plant growing in our garden and although they are ripening and turning red, they are covered in black patches. Any idea what is happening and how to fix it. I have posted some pictures here: http://weblog.xanga.com/yahooanswerspicture/629942979/tomato-problem.html

They get plenty of sun, manly afternoon, and plenty of water.

What is wrong?

We have a lovely large garden in France (where we live) and once a year family come to visit, but our poor niece suffers terribly from hay fever, so cannot get much pleasure from being here!

My husband is keen to create a "friendly" garden especially for her, but cannot find the information anywhere, but knows there are some.

Can anyone help?

I know it is a very general question But I am building a train table that can double as a work surface / Chalkboard for my kids that will be roughly 3' X 4' and have a removable (reversible) top that will only be supported around the perimeter. I plan on painting this top with Chalkboard paint on one side and the other side being a plain work surface.
The reason I ask is that my kids climb up on their existing tables and sit (Combined weight about 70 lbs). The rest of the structure will be Oak. I am not against using other materials like lexan etc but I think it is too expensive/ flexible and hard to get the paint to adhere. I also mention that since it is double sided and the train play area is uunderneath a brace is not possible unless I make it removable as well. I want the lightest weight since it is for kids, preferable fairly thin as well

Thanks

I have a Rental that I am repairing. Originally the tenants told me they would be moving in on the fifteenth of December but I found today it will be tomorrow instead. I am leaving the house at 6am and will try to piece together the finishing touches by the closing of the day.

My partner who is also my companion and myself are debating which to do: Sand the floors and restain, or find a new solution to get the gunk off.

I had a gentlment spend four hours trying to get the crap off the floor and he was only able to finish about 10% of the entire job. From that alone, it sounds to me like we need to go one step further and just rent a machine that will sand down the living room floor and refinish the wood. If we do that....My biggest concern is how long it will take to completely dry..."?"

My partner suggests we just find a new solution, but I am worried we will not have enough time to do so, judging how long it took with the gentlment from earlier. Do you know of any solutions?

It is the BYVIC MULTICOLOUR fABRIC-(red floral)

I need more seating in my new house (which I haven't moved into yet). I don't want everything to match exactly and was looking for something that would go with my navy blue couches but be quite different. I thought I could throw some red, green blue cushions on my blue couches to tie it in with the chair. Do you think that will work.

can anyone suggest an easy way to remove the glue left behind by carpet tiles, its in a few patches and wanted to remove the fluffy pile thats still attached to the glue before painting the floor with non slip paint, also has anyone got a clue how to fit a backing plate to an angle grinder and use a grinding disc, im totally without a clue about angle grinders and until recently thought DIY meant Don't Get Involved. Thanks for any help you can give. I have got to go to the diy shop today so can purchase anything that is useful.

I say it goes Palm-olive ( like the words palm and olive )
She says it goes Pal-mol-ive

Which way is correct?
