I don't live in an earthquake zone, and no store around here sells earthquake straps and all stores refuse to order me one, and I can't find one online.
I wanta be prepared if there is an earthquake cause of the predictions of the intercontenantial and magnetic drift coming in 2012.

I would use 2 straps about 1/3 and then 2/3 down from the top or up from the bottom. Be careful witht the ratchets since you will have the ability to move a filled water heater with them. Just snug.

Give it up. You will not be hit suddenly by an earthquake. But yes, nylon or metal strapping will work.

However if you are hit ny a suffen earthquake, you will have bigger problems than that to deal with!

Home warranty companies are real strikt about what they will pay for. But may I ask did the plumber obtain a city permit? and did they get an inspection by the city? ahhhhhhh that cost should be paid by the home warranty company becuse it is required when replacing a water heater. Ken

With all due respect; I've heard/read/seen way more about 2012 than I care to.
Beyond that you have 4 years to fret over having a water heater tip over; OR the walls; etc; you attach it to; OR re-locating. Oh BTW The Ice Caps are Melting too.

To directly answer your Q however...Yes!
