Buy fabric dye (such as Rit):
http://www.ritdye.com/home.lasso
--at a fabric store (for example, JoAnn Fabrics):
http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat2660&PRODID=prd10751
There's detailed instructions on the Rit site, but to give you a quick idea of how it's done:
Fill the washing machine with the hottest water the fabric can stand, dissolve the dye in the water, then add a cup of salt and a tablespoon of detergent.
Then add the article of clothing and wash it for a good long cycle. Rinse the clothing thoroughly and dry it.
Afterwards, run the washing machine on a hot cycle with bleach, without any clothing in it (to rinse the dye out of the machine).

You can dye them in a washing machine, but read instructions carefully. Some fabrics won't take dye very well. Also, you need to weigh the fabric to know how much dye you'll need. Good luck.

Step one: buy a box of clothing dye at the store (either a sewing shop or even a grocery store will have it).
Step two: follow directions on the box
Yea.. that's about it.

well you take a coloring liquid and you carefully pour it on to the shirt. make sure there is a cap with a tiny hole in it. wear your worn out shirt because the dye might stain. if this info doesn't work then go online to GOOGLE and just type in your question. there are probably steps and ways to dye your clothes.

MAKE SURE it is a natural fiber(cotton/wool etc), if you try to dye a synthetic fabric (polyester/nylon/lycra/spandex) or any blend thereof it will not work.
Other than that RIT dye works great, smells bad, comes in decent colors, available to fabric and craft stores.
