From a leather jacket. It was put in to storage a couple of years ago and apparently the box got wet and the jacket is mildewed. I don't want to get rid of the Jacket because it was my husband's. He passed away from leukemia and I want to be able to give this jacket to our daughter.

Do not wet it.

Wipe the mildew away with a Turkish towel type cloth or brush that will not harm leather. It should wipe right off. After you wipe the leather as clean as possible, put in sun, all day. then wipe again.

Take the jacket to a reputable cleaner that specializes in leather cleaning.Leather is a breathable natural fabric and the mildew and mold would thrive in this. You may not ever be able to restore this jacket. But the Cleaner should be able to remove surface mildew so the jacket may be able to used or displayed as an air loom not necessarily worn.

You need to use a specialist mold killer for leather which will kill the spores to stop them returning and will not damage the leather or finish. Just cleaning will not do this and some of the other products mentioned may harm the leather finish.

LTT do a specialist product called Em Clean which was developed for this problem on leather.

The spores may have damaged the surface of the leather depending on how long they have been there. Clean with mold killer first and then if the surface is pitted you may need to contact a leather specialist for advice on restoration.

sorry to know about your husband. just wipe it off with any soft dry cloth or also you can use petrol after wiping off with dry cloth. and after working with petrol you have to put it in sun for few hours and the smell of petrol goes away. always store it in polythene bags as this will also save it from moths, mildews etc.
never use water and soap on leather as will loose its natural shine.

Sorry to hear about your husband, it must be difficult. I think I would take the jacket into a professional cleaner. No reason to take a chance and ruin it.
