I was wondering how long the cement sand mix used as a grout between slabs takes to go off. I used a mixture of between 3 or 4 of sand to 2 of cement. I used a dry mix.

that mix ratio is very "hot",meaning extremely high cement ratio.4 to 1 or 5 to 1 would have been a little more practical.Your mix will set rather quickly,within a few hrs.,depending on the air temp.The main problem with a hot mix is that it usually ends up cracking,because it sets too fast..GOOD LUCK!!

It needs water to cure. This is a chemical reaction so it won't do anything unless you water it. Rain will eventually do it or a watering can. Don't over do it or you'll wash the grout out of the joints. S

I think it's 24 hours but I'm not a builder! Also, the weather will have something to do with it too, will take longer if it's cold

shame you never run over it with a watering can of water afterwards ...fine rose of coarse ..if not go out and do it .then its 12 hours..with that mix its too strong and will dry white

give it a quick hose with water...it `ll be good within 24hrs.
