I am putting a rock lawn in by myself when it cools down. I need to know what is the best fabric, brand name and where to get it, to put underneath these rocks so that I won't have grass and weeds coming through. Most of my neighbors who have rock lawns have grass that grew through. Black plastic is not an option, as I live in Vegas and it will melt. Any ideas for other substances that I can put down to keep the grass/weeds from growing through? The last thing I want is to have to take all the rocks out and redo it because the fabric didn't work.

I live in an apartment on the 2nd floor of a house. The people who live below me are smokers and when the heat is turned on, the smoke smell comes right into my apartment, in every single room where there is a vent. Short of asking them not to smoke (it's their place they can do what they want) is there any product anyone knows of (i.e, a filter of some sort) I could put into the vents to reduce the smell of smoke? Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

My city has hard water and when I wash them in the dish washer and let them dry.. it looks like there is alot of dried up soap on my dishes.. plates, silverware, glasses and all!! and it looks horrible. I use the Liquid cascade. I stopped using the powder cascade because it gave me problems to after a while so I switched to liquid. Now im thinking about switching again. I washed my dishes last night only to have to wash them again this morning.. but with a smal squirt of liquid dish soap (the kind made to wash dishes in the sink...). How can I cope with this?? its so annoying.

I had a yellow crayon partially melt in our van. My son decided to be helpful and wiped it up with his white shirt. It's a really cute shirt, but now it has yellow crayon all over it. I tried washing it and treated it with Shout! but it didn't help. Does anyone know of a way to get it out please?

My garden is pretty small, and as I live in a big city, I'm pretty protective of it. The neighrhood cats seem to think my gravel path and flowerbeds are a litter box. How can I keep them from making this mistake, and is there a way to do without harmful chemicals? I have an herb garden right next to my rose beds, and I'd like to be as green as possible as we use the herbs regularly. Cheers!

I was told not to empty it because it would loose the vaccuum. I would like to empty it because of my two kids, but work on cleaning it over the summer 6 months from now. What would be the risk. It has not been used for 4 years, and just scary water under the cover is in it now.

my house has an open floor plan. the walls are a shade lighter than mustard yellow. my formal dining room is right next to the living room and it has traditional oak furniture and it has a buffet with a charcoal gray marble top. my hearth room is also next to my living room becuase it is right in front of my kitchen, which has stainless steel appliances and uba tuba (ooba tooba?) green granite counter tops along with cherry cabinets. The hearth room has contemporary black leather furniture and black glass tables.
how can i coordinate my living room to look good with both my traditional-style formal dining room and my contemporary hearth room.
please let me know if you need any more information.
any suggestions for stores are welcome. links with pieces that you like from stores like Bombay and Pier One would also be very helpful.
thanks!

I'd like to know #1) why white garments that arent worn, turn yellow in some areas when the item has sat in either a drawer or closet for a while and #2) how do you get them out? I've taken them to dry cleaners and it's a hit or miss if it works.

How do you keep white socks clean? I washed them in bleach and they still show dirt on the bottoms? Is there a cleaner out there that is strong enough to get the bottoms clean? I tried "Shout" and "Spray & Wash", but they don't work. I don't want to have to soak them in bleach each time I wash them as I don't wear them a lot and don't have enough whites for a whole laundry load. Any suggestions?

The holes go all the way through. Drywall screws held a towel holder there until I pulled it out.

1: What about the wall paper which is covering the area (not the holes though).

2:What about if I want to put the towel holder with the drywall screws (screws are conected to the towel holder) back into the holes and fix it that way. Is it possible to do it that way so the holder is strong enough to hold a towel and be used daily?

I heard about dryel and went to the website. I have been meaning to dry clean my comforter for awhile now, but it's such a pain.
Does anyone know if the dryel bag used in the kit is big enough to fit a queen size comforter? I don't want to buy the kit and then find out the bag is too small.
Thanks in advance for your help.

After about 2 weeks of sitting in the linen closet, my freshly washed sheets smell bad. I live in a very dry climate and the sheets are the only things that smell bad. The blankets are fine. I've tried leaving dryer sheets or bars of soap in the closet, but the sheets still smell like strong minty-pine.

Our shower only minimally sprinkles and I need a strong hot shower to help with arthritis and FM. We draw from a well at 10 gpm and the pump is new. The pressure tank is set between 40-60 psi, so I'd imagine that would be enough. I'm afraid to set the psi any higher because the house is 25 years old and some of the pipes are pvc. Would it be safe to crank up the pressure? (I've already removed the water savers). Any other suggestions?
