Use bentonite in the hole. Less expensive than plastic or rubber liners. Your local well driller or pump supply store can sell it to you and give you instructions on it's use.

******* Hello---I am a Certified Master Gardener. *******

Yes, the water will seep into the ground because the particles that make up soil are in large part POROUS.

You could put a plastic liner in the hole, or line it with concrete.

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

I sincerely hope this helps you.

you must line the hole with a waterproof type of plastic or rubber sheeting or with a preformed black plastic 'pool' or other container.... like a plastic Rubbermaid container or tub.... I take it you are trying to make a little pond?... or the pool for another type of water feature?....

You need a container or a liner (rubber) to keep the water in.
