Hi, I'm trying to choose what colour roman blinds to have in my bedroom. My walls are cream (doors and skirting boards are white) The carpet is a deep heather/pink colour (I think more pink then purple though) my furniture is white. Could anyone suggest a colour of roman style blind that would look good, I'm guessing the carpet is the dominant colour, the walls are the medium colour so I guess I am looking for an accent, white possibly? or is that to stark? Help!! I have no idea!!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks x

Thinking I would be helpful, I just went out to cut the lawn, using a Petrol Honda lawnmower (borrowed from my parnters parents!!) I pulled the chord and nothing happened a few times, so I put on the choke and then it started. I never turned the choke back off again, and I got a good bit of the lawn done and the mower just stopped dead. I emptied the grass bag (which was full as full could be!) and tried starting it again. Its like its locked or something, as the cord will only pull a few inshes then jams. Have I broken the mower?

Can someone please tell me how to get it started and also what that choke thing is for??

Thanks (PS I am blonde....!)

I painted a small area of a plastic object with an all purpose paint and the paint seems to bond fine without a primer, however, the painted objects are stored where they bang against wood and I am constantly finding small spots that I have to touch up. Is there anything that can seal this paint on to take a little more abuse. They seem to fall victim just to light bumps and it is getting kind of annoying.

I'm fitting a security light to my exterior wall, and need to add another socket 'gang' to power its internal switch.

I CAN'T convert the existing nearby single socket to a double due to lack of space at its location, so need to take a spur from it. (I've tested and confirmed that this single socket is on the ring-main.)

I have a two-year-old Wylex fuse box with 30mA RCD-protection on all the mains sockets.
Would there be any safety advantage at all if I got an RCD socket or RCD fused spur unit for this outlet? These cost several times more than a basic fused spur unit. The only advantage I can think of is if the RCD on the spur had a faster trip time (don't know what it is on the fuse box).

I intend to use a 3A fuse in the spur unit, as it is only to power the light.

(Please do not advise me to get an electrician out - I have successfully done plenty of sockets / light switches before - my question here is about whether I should use an RCD FCU, or a normal FCU)

Hi Guys, I have an open plan living room and kitchen. My living room walls are half magnolia and half terracotta. I am wanting to change the appearance of my kitchen tiles using tile transfers (taking the tiles off and replacing them is too expensive and time consuming) and i would like some ideas on what would look nice in terms of colour scheme etc. Would terracotta mosaic be too overpowering? Comments much appreciated. Thanks

Our RA came in today for a health and safety check up and except for out living room and bathroom our dorm is a mess. Luckily she didn't write us up but she said she will come back for another check up and my roommates are freaking out about it. I kept my room clean at home but it is different living with other people. My roommate who I share a bedroom with, as nice as she is here side of the room is REALLY messy. Mine is not as bad. So do you have any tips to keep our room clean so we won't get fined. Keep in mind, my room is an apartment-style room with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, and kitchen.

I knew this would happen, I even joked about it at the store. I have issues with plants, but for my bday my mom bought me a beautiful white orchid with two flowers. Three days after I brought it home, one of the flowers looked really dry and fragile and died, then a few days after that the same thing happened to the other one. I don't think I over or under-watered it but I'm not sure what the problem is! I watered it every couple of days letting it drain completely, and it didn't get direct sun, but it it was semi-bright where it was sitting in the kitchen. Can anyone help?

I cut off the stem when the flowers died and its very brown and dry now. Is that normal?

Yes, this is probably a very stupid question--I know that too much bleach will kill the birds, but will a small amount (say a quarter of a cup?)--the fountain holds about 5 gallons of water and is getting pretty green and fuzzy. Is there an alternative that will keep it clean and is bird-friendly? Thanks.

I just found out there are white bug/insects crawling around and appearing on my bathroom floor when i moved in. At first i didnt think it was a problem but later on i would spot one on the floor more frequently. I have no idea what they are, as i've never seen this kind of insect before. They are white in color, in an almost oval shape, it looks like they have some kind of soft shell around them and they have thin striped lines across their body shell, approximately 6-8 legs, and it has antenas on its head. I tried squishing them with tissue, but they run away pretty fast. I think they are nested inside this small crack in my bathroom between the bathroom cabinet and the wall, but i don't know which kind of insect spray i could use to get rid of them. Can anyone help me figure out what they are and i would really like to get rid of them from my bathroom!!!

I use the products available at the store at least twice a year sometimes more. The ones that say 9 months effectiveness etc. The pests I find inside are dead or close to it except for spiders, but I'd like to find none at all. Would a professional really be worth it considering all the chemical restrictions on them? How often would they have to treat the area? My main problems are spiders, inside and out, crickets, and occasionally cockroaches inside, the big black ones, which I have been told are outside pests coming in. I also use diazanon and dursban on the yard but for the three years I've been here, I keep seeing bugs (however mostly dead).. HELP!!

I want to force myself to throw away some of my stuff and be more organized. I went from a big house with basement and attic to a small townhouse to a tiny apartment. I have a gigantic storage shed full, another storage shed I built on my mom's, one half the attic at my mom's and some of garage and her I filled up 5 of the storage sheds (smaller)..I am only supposed to have one but people did 't use them..the house is full.

I get emotionally attacked to everything. I may be moving in a year or so to a slightly bigger place. If it is away, I do not think of it but feel safe..when I look through it I do not want to throw a lot of it away but cannot bring it here. I am thinking of working on my house first and then tackling the boxes--maybe going through and throwing some away and organizing contents so I know what is where.

for instance, I have about 20 boxes of children's clothes that have been in storage years--my youngest is 27 now and oldest is 34. I have several toy boxes

I once had a very powerful magnet, it measured 1" x 1" x 5", more or less. I wonder if it was made with a welder? I think I heard somewhere that a person could make a normal piece of steel into a magnet by attaching a welder's leads to it for a specific amount of time, and in a certain manner. Is this possible? If so, what type of welder do you think a person should use? I just want the magnet to play around with, maybe use at work if the need arose. Plus, I like fooling around with things like this. Thank you to anyone that spends their precious time answering my question.
