Our RA came in today for a health and safety check up and except for out living room and bathroom our dorm is a mess. Luckily she didn't write us up but she said she will come back for another check up and my roommates are freaking out about it. I kept my room clean at home but it is different living with other people. My roommate who I share a bedroom with, as nice as she is here side of the room is REALLY messy. Mine is not as bad. So do you have any tips to keep our room clean so we won't get fined. Keep in mind, my room is an apartment-style room with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, and kitchen.

It is so hard to keep a dorm room clean. It's hard to straighten everything when you have no where to put it in such a small room. Below is an article on how to quickly clean your dorm room. I have a house now, but this method helped in college and I still use it in my home today. Cleaning a little tiny bit each day is the key.

Here is an article about how to clean your room:

Unless you give in and realize that you'll be the one cleaning all the time, the room will never be clean. You can't make a person do ANYTHING; she has to do it on her own or you do it for her.

If you guys get fined, write up a small contract that says she pays the fine all on her own because it's her fault. TAKE PICTURES of her side to contest the fine if necessary.

If you clean the house all on your own, write up a contract that says she buys toiletries for the both of you.

If you don't want to deal with contracts because you're afraid it could ruin your relationship, then just be prepared to be the one cleaning all the time, but let everyone know that when you go through the house, if stuff isn't in it's proper place it's going in the trash -- I don't care what it is. You're not a maid, they need to be responsible. You can't bear the burden of ORGANIZING for them, which is the main part of keeping a house clean.

PUT THINGS IN THEIR PROPER PLACE: that's the key. If you don't wash dishes after every meal, RINSE them and pile them, so they look clean and won't start to stink. Fold blankets and throw them over the couch, dont' just leave them balled up there. Put shoes in the closet, bags go under a table, stack books up wherever they are, don't leave them sprawled out. If you don't feel like making your bed, just pull the sheets back -- it doesn't have to be perfect.

This is not insurmountable.

Have a talk with the roommate and commit to keeping the place clean. It's really not that difficult. Clean up after yourself each and every day. Clean your dishes when you're done with them, pick up your clothes off the floor, hang them up. You can do it, you just have to make the effort.

The biggest thing is to keep the clothes from piling up and keeping that off the floor...clutter like clothes for the most part is kinda commonplace and no one seems to pay it much mind....hampers are great ideas not just glorified waste baskets...another thing from time to time clear out things you don't need and if you havent already invest in a small filing cabinet for papers

No refrigerator? No hotplate? i could get those if in any respect conceivable. Microwave limits you lots. i could carry on with fruit, soups, sandwiches, salads, cereals, instantaneous issues which you will warmth in a microwave. in case you haven't any longer have been given any refrigerator, you will no longer have the skill to maintain something spoilable like milk or sandwich meat greater desirable than in one day.
