Sounds like it could be an argiope, or North American Banana Spider. We're having a profusion of them in the deep south USA right now.

The North American banana spider is not aggressive and if one should get on a person it will be most concerned with escaping, not biting. If you notice banana spiders building webs close to your home and would like them to move, you don't need to harm the spiders. Simply tear down the webs. The spiders will relocate further away where they can continue to do their part in keeping down the insect population!

Other names for the argiope or North American banana spider include: yellow garden spider, writing spider, golden orb weaver, and yellow argiope

I live in Ohio and we have a lot of wolf spiders. They can get as large as your hand. I just killed one last night. I stepped on it. Brown recluse are very poisenous. They are native to the Ohio area but have spread to the southern states.
I was told years ago byu an ederly woman that the fruit from an Osage orange(Hedge apple) is really a good repellant for spiders roaches and ants. Most likley this spider will either move indoors cause the weather is gett ing cooler or the cooler weather will kill it but not after laying eggs. To kill it you could step on it,throw a shoe at it , or use pesticide.
good luck with your new friend

depends on where you live guy.It could be a brown recluse spider that will bite and lay eggs under you skin if you live in a tropical area. They are very bad if you get bitten.Or if you live in northern area's it could be a common brown spider that come out in the evening and feed on bugs that have got trapped during the day in their webbs. They are commomly on your house siding as they have an easy place to hide during the day.If you have streaks down your siding you will know what I mean,The spider itself is large with a big round main body.I don't believe they are poisonous.

It is unlikely that it is a brown recluse unless you have very small thumbs since they are rather small. Their legs are long, but their body portion is tiny . It is most likely a juvenile huntsman or wolf spider which are completely harmless garden spiders. It could even be a brown orb weaver, but I can't say without a picture so here are some pics for you to compare.

Brown Recluse: You can clearly see the fiddle shape on it's back which gives it the nick name of "fiddle back"

It looks large in the photo, but it is a rather small spider

I little extra info. on the brown recluse. They are poisonous, but not deadly. They can leave you with a nasty necrotizing wound if not treated promptly. They are shy and reclusive, hence the name, and hardly ever seen in the open. You usually have to be digging in dark corners or under unused areas to even find one. They do not lay eggs under your skin.

Huntsman: These are large garden spiders that tend to find their way inside. Just scoop them up and put them back outside where they can do their job of eating the other buggies you'd rather not have around.

Wolf spider: These get very large, maybe even larger than the huntsman. They have stripes on their backs which makes them easy to recognize. They are also harmless and you find the females carrying all their little babies on their backs.

Brown Orb weaver: These are the spiders that create those beautiful huge round webs outside. They are completely harmless as well.
