Youd need the motor numbers off the flywheel shroud/engine block - a local tractor parts place can get a 'parts kit' for it - including gaskets, o rings, sometimes a float, needlevalve- ect, usually runs in the $20-30 range. Heres a parts breakdown diagram site - look up motor numbers under briggs & stratton : http://www.jackssmallengines.net/parts.asp

Cleaning a carb is too easy to take it to a shop to have down. Step 1: Remove carb from engine. Step 2: If there are any adjustment screws on the carb you will want does to be in the same place when you put them in. To find the correct place count the number of turn IN until the screw/s are tight. REMEMBER THE NUMBER Step 3: Remove all screws (DO NOT REMOVE GOVERNOR SET SCREW) and open up the carb. Step 4: Remove bowl Step 5: Pull out the pin that the float is pivoting on. Step 6: Remove float and stopper. Step 7: Clean with carb clean (spray or dip), pressure washer, spray cleaning foam and compressed air, etc Step 8: Let the carb dry. Step 9: Replace stopper and float making sure the stopper and float are connected Step 10: replace pivot pin Step 11: replace bowl. Step 12: secure bowl Step 13: Replace adjustment screw, screw them all the way in and then count the turn out to the correct place. Step 14: Reattach to engine. and start

Check for Briggs and Stratton's website. They may have online parts breakdown diagrams. If not, I'm sure you could find a number to call and they could email you one, or maybe fax it.

To rebuild it properly you would want to get a rebuild kit. it will have instructions. Remember, the carb needs to be cleaned also, making sure all the passages are clear. The best way is to soak it in a good parts cleaner.
