I live in an apartment on the 2nd floor of a house. The people who live below me are smokers and when the heat is turned on, the smoke smell comes right into my apartment, in every single room where there is a vent. Short of asking them not to smoke (it's their place they can do what they want) is there any product anyone knows of (i.e, a filter of some sort) I could put into the vents to reduce the smell of smoke? Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

Try buying one or two of the air fresheners that spray automatically. You can buy them at wal-mart for about ten dollars. You can set it to spray every 9, 18, or 36 minutes. Also try buying some oust air freshener. I used both of these to get rid of cigarette smoke in one room of our house. It took a few days, but then the smell totally disappeared. I don't know of any vent fresheners, but I agree with the comment of changing the filter, and the dryer sheet just might work:) Good luck!!

If you like the smell, how about a drier sheet. If not take a used drier sheet, wash it and put watever fragrance you like on it.
Also change the filter on the furnace.
