I would like to refinish my oak floors and I seen on tv before someone that used a propane torch and burnt the wood after they sanded. It brings out the grain. I thought it looked really nice. Trouble is I can't find anything on the net about it. I would like to know proper techniques, perhaps some company or website that does it, and i would like to see more pictures of it done. Also I don't know if it has to be a certain wood, i have solid oak. Would I also have to do my oak trim to make it look all good. Please I need more info.

I'm looking for a set of kitchen knives that come with a set of knives and the block. I was very interested in the miracle blade 3 knives set but it didn't come with the block. I have no problem getting it but only if they are a good set of knives. Also it only has 10 things of knives where I've seen a set of 20 and they're cheaper but are they good? Let me know. Also something that washes easy and doesn't rust like maybe stainless steel would be good.

I am associated with a group of people who bought land East of Portland, OR. The 50 acres are on a dirt road, with no electricity or water. Mostly for personal camping and party use, the regulations from the government are that no permanent structures can be built. There are a couple geodesic domes. One of the people has brought in a thousand gallon water tank, with the idea of filling it with snow run off and rainwater, to help water the trees (Ponderosas) that live up there. ON A SHOESTRING BUDGET, how do we keep the filled tank from freezing and bursting during the extended 0c wintertime? Burying the tank is not a option (rocky soil, no backhoe). Electricity, if needed, would be solar panel/deep cell battery. We could enclose the tank in a simple structure if needed.

In the back garden we get grey squirrels who swing upside down on the washing-line and feed out of the peanuts that are hanging in a wire cage for the birds.
As it goes dark our hedgehogs come out and they head straight for the nuts that have fallen on the ground and also eat up all the cat-food that I put out (NON-FISHY!)
I also have moles on the front lawn!
But the less said about them, the better!

I recenly bought a microwave online and when I opened the box I noticed that the styrofoam that was next to the microwave left a sticky residue behind on the microwave maybe due to heat. But I was wondering what is the best method to remove this residue without damaging the microwave?

Raccoons are eating all my cantelope melons way before they are fully ripe!!
I've tried everything but cannot keep them all out being in the country.
I've read to wait to pick until the stem is soft but by then it's too late!
Will they ripen properly on a window ledge if I pick them very early? Right now they are a decent size, about 1/2 to 1/3 what they probably would be if they made it to maturity, and they are still green (although even the ripe one I did get was still mostly green? Must be the particular variety I planted?)
