I built a bed for my 4-year old. My wife wanted to paint it, so I just built it out of plywood. Now she wants to stain it instead. Will it look stupid to stain the edges, ie the plies?

Hi,
I am currently on vacation. And am staying in a supposedly nice hotel. Well tonight I saw a cockroach, and am worried. I have quite a bit of luggage and do not want to take any visitors home with me. what do I do? I can't just get rid of my stuff I have too much with me. What can I do to make sure that I do not get an infestation in my own home?

When I mean filthy it is very dirty. I'm just wondering can a rug be so dirty that a professional steamclean won't help at all ? If it helps even just a little, I will get it done.

My background is a basically a big, privacy fenced rectangle. I'm working on landscaping it - the previous owners had a fairly large, square cement patio poured. Any ideas to make it more interesting? I've added some beds and a flowering magnolia tree plus perennial flowering bushes, but what else? Anything besides plants or a pond? Thanks in advance!

Hi all. I just recently purchased my first home and have noticed that the lawn has low spots in both the front and back yards. I would like to add a layer of top soil to sort of smooth things out a bit. However, with it being September already, am I too late? What is the best time to add a layer of good topsoil? I know the previous owners of this house did not take care of the lawn so I am prepared (mentally) to rehabillitate this lawn.

Can you just buy it at Lowes or somewhere like that? Or do you have to go to a place that sells topsoil and gravel and stuff ?

I have a flowerbed that is an awkward spot at the edge of a parking area. It gets full sun (average 25-30C) most of the summer but in winter all the snow gets pushed on top of it along with a fair bit of grit from the road. The snow doesn't usually melt until mid April as it is hard packed and frozen solid. The grit filters down and ends up in the flowerbed making the soil really poor quality.
I need suggestions for what plants will survive these conditions best or how to cover the area so it stays nice looking. It has to stay as a flowerbed, and pots wont work as it's near a road and they'd get stolen. We've tried rocks but they just seem to attract weeds which are hard to get out of the crevices...

I know I'm asking the impossible, but any advice would help! Thanks!

It all started cause i left some spoiled food and junk in a small garbage can which i keep in my room. i don't use it to dump food, but this time i accidentally did . it was a banana peel.

Ok so at nights when i'm at the computer and the computer and another small light are the only light sources, i can see these tiny flying things that are kind of impossible to catch. They bother me alot.

It's also not helping that we have a heat wave here in CA.

What can i do to get rid of these mosquitos once nad for all. By the way they are not the ones that are sizeable and make noise. These are tiny ones that dont make noise

Three years ago me and my mom bought just small house plants at Wal-Mart, ferns in fact, my mom threw hers away after the season was over, but I have had mine for three years now and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. Right now it is in a 20" inch pot or about two feet by two feet. I water it every couple of days and it stays in the same spot everyday, in which this spot gets sun part of the day and shade the other part of the day.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do with my fern? It is so big that it looks awkward just sitting in my front landscaping and there really is no good place to put it. I do not want to kill it or throw it away being this is the only plant I have ever seemed to keep alive. During the winter time I have always brought it in the garage and covered it up and not watered it a drop, then I bring it back out in the spring. I have replanted it once a year and we just moved so it changed the space it was in. Any advice?

I wash my towels in hot water and always add a liitle bleach to disinfect them. the problem is after I take a shower and dry myself off, I have to immediately put the towel in the hamper after just using it that one time, because as soon as the towel gets wet, it has that smell to it, like when you leave a pile of wet clothes in the washer, sort of like rotten water. what can I do, is it time for new towels?
