Hi,

I'm purchasing a new house and I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on what color wood I should pick for the blinds to match the rest of the house. Right now we haven't picked flooring yet, so I want to match the blinds with the cabinates which are Maple. I was thinking a lighter color wood. Anyone have some suggestions?

Thanks

Is it possible to paint over butcher block countertops? Although these countertops are over 30 years old- they are in excellent condition! No stains, cuts, chips, etc. But I would like to change them. I cannot afford to replace them, so I was wondering if it is possible to paint them or something- my concern being if the paint would stick, or how long it would last with all the abuse my countertops take, also would you dare to roll out dough on that surface? Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly apppreciated!!

My 5 year old got blue silly putty in a pair of white khaki pants. I was able to get the putty itself out of the pants, but there is a number of blue spots left behind. How can I get the spots out without leaving another stain behind.

Hey everyone, my kitchen counter top was painted by the previous owners. The current colour won't work with what I want to do with the walls and I can't afford to replace the whole counter. Is there an inexpensive alternative? Could I paint over it again? If so is there a product out there that will be durable enough? Thanks

If you have a in-ground plaster/concrete pool and you drained it, would it be possible that exposing it to air after 15 years of water tend to start disinigrating the plaster after you refilled it, it seems to happening to mine after i patched it? Its gotten 4 times as worse?

The floors in our home we are renting has started to bow up in some places in the month and a half?
we have been here since june and it started the last of july. the landlord came to look at it yesterday after being told 2 about it. he said it looked like water damage. the only thing is we haven't even seen a leak or heard one. the house is old and it only has 2 things of cynder blocks holding all the floors up. the just put new walls and stuff up in this house. we plan on moving out when we find somewhere. i just don't want him to hold our deposit just because he says it is water damage. what would be the sign of water damage if a pipe was leaking under the house say the where the washing machine is. and should he hold our deposit to fix it when we move out.

water laden air from shower condenses on inside surface of metal roof cap. Then condensation flows down to duct joint/ plywood edge (at duct cut out) of bare plywood. Plywood acts like a sponge, wicking up the condensation. It begins to be big problem once outside air temperatures get below mid to upper 40's (F).
Any way to prevent condensation in first place or better way to remove vapor to eliminate problem?

We've got one of those easy-set pools (12' x 3') and we're getting ready to empty it out and put it up for the year. It's accumulated some leaves and dirt at the bottom and I'm wondering what to clean all the bottom sludge with? We used all the standard pool chemicals throughout the year so I'm assuming bleach would be okay, right? That'll kill the grass as we are rinsing though, won't it?

We have plaster walls. In a couple rooms, there is chipped paint, which my youngest child has been so kind to expand. I don't have the time or sanity to scrape the entire room's walls - plus it won't come off at all in certain spots. Do I just use spackling to smooth it over or do I really have to chisel my life away? Please say no.....
