I have been harvesting orange tomatoes from my plants and I have more than I can use up. I don't want to freeze or can them. What can I do to prolong the life of them. How should I store them. I have been picking them off of the vine when they start turning orange.

We just bought this house a few months ago, this is our first house so we are very uneducated about proper maintenance and care of a home, we are learning as we go.

Either way, as we have been doing updates and maintenance on the house we have noticed a low area in our backyard. There is a tree and where the tree is the land away from it kind of slopes down. We just recently had a lot of rain and this low area filled with water to make a muddy area. It was shallow but deep enough to cover your shoe I would imagine, I did not go into it.

Anyway, we are beginning to get worried that we may have a sinkhole and do not know what to do from here, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Until we find out more information we have been avoiding the backyard except to mow and prune bushes.

I use bicarb soda for many cleaning purposes, including nappy-soaking and I would like to buy in bulk instead of 500g or 1kg packs. Does anyone know of a co-op or retail store in Melbourne, Australia where I can buy in bulk? Or an online seller that delivers here?

Hello,

I have a very small pond, maybe 70 gallons...It is in the middle of our patio and has 3 large waterfalls going into it with a small stream with another 3 small waterfalls...

To help keep it clean, I am putting tube socks over the intake valves on the pumps...While we never planned on any wild life, a frog moved in, and we want to make sure he is healthy.

The water gets a little stinky because he eats a ton...I am considering putting in some plants. Will this make the water dirtier or cleaner? I have been changing the water weekly and adding some of the stuff from my aquarium to de-chlorinate it..

Are Plants a good or bad idea?

I've never had a sink garbage disposal before, but I've really learned to love the one that I now have. Unfortunately, something hard fell down there and is scraping and rattling against the blades. My hands aren't small enough to reach in there, but my fingertips can feel a surface around the sides and it's gross. I keep thinking that if somebody with smaller hands reaches in there, the blades will somehow come on and that person will pull out a bloody stump. I want to know how to get that thing out of there. Thanks!

For securing a grille over a window, i think i could use a strong openable ring instead of a padlock. If it needs two hands to open, it couldn't be opened from outside by fingers through the grille. If it's easy to close, you would be more likely to do all your windows, as it would be easier than padlocks (also should be cheaper). My idea for a design would have the ring opening to form 2 joined half-rings, with a snap to close, needing some force so 2 hands would be needed. I'm not sure of the details, though. Does anyone know if such a thing exists?

My home inspector my window is leaking moisture and needs attention. He said to get it caulked, but I don't think it's that bad.
Should I use caulk or that Great Stuff insulating foam sealant? What is the difference? I'm not confident I can do caulk myself, I think maybe that spray sealant would be easier. Has anyone tried it? How was it?

I live on the edge of a forest and use a leaf blower to blow dead oak leaves off my cleared land and back to the edge of the forest. Raking them up and trashing them would be a constant, herculean task in which I am not willing to engage. So at the back of my property on the edge of the forest is a pile of leaves 3-4 inches deep. I water them to keep them damp and rotting, but is there any way to accelerate the process? If I were to spread an enzyme on them, like that used in septic tanks for instance, would that make them rot faster? Anyone have any other suggestions?

I am thinking of getting the Big Sur table and benches from Crate and Barrel. http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=891&f=14069&q=sur&fromLocation=Search&DIMID=400001&SearchPage=1

But my other furniture are sort of Ballard Design style. Samples :
Armoire in black -- http://www.ballarddesigns.com/jump.jsp?itemID=1025&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C2%2C5%2C36%2C200&iProductID=1025

Console table (also in black) -- http://www.ballarddesigns.com/jump.jsp?itemID=1746&itemType=PRODUCT&RS=1&keyword=demilune

My couches are similar in color to the link below, although style is a little more relaxed -- http://www.scandinaviandesigns.com/?page=shop/flypage&page_back=shop/category_items&offset=0&product_id=1572&category_id=a10b5d1d7c7745585411b442dc5aa934

Main artwork has dark traditional frame.

Is there any way to make this work?

I'm going to visit family soon and have a toddler and an infant who will be going with me. My parents house is old OLD, like 1890's old! On one side of the house, a room is severely damaged by water coming thru the roof and mold and who knows what else has started to grow in the room. They've blocked off that part of the house by closing the door of the room next to it.The rest of the house is very old, no central heat and air units but molded and rotting wood, water damage and leaks in parts of the house that haven't been repaired. My sister is 8 mo. pregnant and hasn't had any complications, I lived there up until two years ago and took my then infant to visit less than 4 months ago with no complications. I THINK it should be okay, but what I'm wondering if there is some type of service that would go out to my family's house to inspect and make sure there's nothing in the house that could make my two babies sick. Does anyone know WHO I would call to have go out there before we visit?

We have a subzero side by side fridge and it has always been hard to open up the fridge door. We called the company and they suggested that we try to have someone come and demagnetize the door. Does anyone have any information about this or any suggestions on what to do to fix this? I don't know if it's just that the door is really heavy or the suction is the problem. Please help!!!

Can I run Romex through PVC conduit underground?
I am running power to a small shed 130" away from the house undergroung in PVC. I found that buying stranded wire is more expensive than solid romex at 10/2. I'm not pulling it through so that won't be an issue.
I just want to know if there should be any problems with that or should I just use seperate stranded wire?

Ge oven/range tripping circuit breaker when trying to bake. It last about 10 minutes and then trips. After time, the breaker will reset and do the same thing over again. I have changed out the lower heating element and still have the same problem. Visually, the circuit looks simple, but there is no schematic to trace the wiring. Hope someone can help.

Thanks
