For securing a grille over a window, i think i could use a strong openable ring instead of a padlock. If it needs two hands to open, it couldn't be opened from outside by fingers through the grille. If it's easy to close, you would be more likely to do all your windows, as it would be easier than padlocks (also should be cheaper). My idea for a design would have the ring opening to form 2 joined half-rings, with a snap to close, needing some force so 2 hands would be needed. I'm not sure of the details, though. Does anyone know if such a thing exists?

hi all so far, ta.. yes, like small handcuffs maybe.. Lou, i think you mean "carabiners" which i found already; unfortunately they seem to be designed to be EASY to open.. keep trying guys!

I know exactly what you're talking about. We used to use them in our business for holding samples together. There was a hinge in the center and the two ends had notches that interlocked when you pressed them together. They are called hinged snap rings. I think we got them at Office Depot but I have seen them at Ace Hardware also. I found them on this site and they come in a whole bunch of sizes.

Having watched the videos of you riding, its not the bit that's the problem, its a training issue. My guess would be she's mad and running at the fences because she's trying get through the course with as little pain as possible. You're riding ponies, so you're not going to give as long a release as a big eq hunter, but you're not giving any release at all, you're just popping them in the mouth or holding on the their face, hence they rush at the fences. Spend some time going slowly over small fences. It will help your horses to spend some time walking over some 18" fences while you give them a completely loose rein over the fence. Spending some time lunging over fences without reins would also benefit you and your ponies a lot.

I have no idea....but your question brought to mind one of the recent programs on tv for inventors. There were two guys making a kind of ring-hook that you attached to the ceiling of the garage and when you bump it with your bike it would grab the bike (would hold a lot of weight) and it would keep it off the cement. That hook would also be easy to open. Check on it and improve it to what style you need it.

Just goto a hardware and buy a six pack of keyed alike small locks, around $10,
any thing you put on that can be removed by fingers will be removed,

You can get locks that clip open, the sort they use for rock climbing. They are spring loaded are a G type shape is the best way I can explain it.

I like that idea.It remindeds of one half of apair of handcuffs but no key. Take both hands to unlock it. Need to look in to it.
