Ew, Linoleum. Why don't you just go the extra mile and tile the bathroom.

Why not just remove the toilet? All you have to do is turn off the water to the tank, and then flush to remove as much water as possible from the tank. You can then use a cup and a towel to remove the remainder of the water from the tank and bowl. Remove the water line from the tank, or disconnect it at the valve, whichever is easier for you. Then you need to remove the two nuts holding the base of the toilet down and simply lift the toilet up and away. I usually put a couple of old towels in the tub and put the toilet there. Once you're done with the linoleum, you simply reverse the procedure. Replace the wax ring on top of the metal plate underneath where the toilet sits. Make sure to clean all the old wax from both the floor and the bottom of the toilet. If the bolts or nuts holding down the toilet aren't in the best of shape then now would be a good time to replace them. You can find both the wax ring and nut and bolt sets at any home improvement store. Doing it this way insures that you have a nice, professional looking job around the toilet.
Good Luck.

The reason the toilet is removed and replaced when installing vinyl flooring in the bathroom is so that moisture, water, and worse do not seep under the floor. If this happens you will gather yucky stuff and the edges will curl, then all your hard work will be wasted. When you replace the toilet the wax seal will also need to be replaced. http://www.howstuffworks.com/question504.htm
This site will help you with the process. Take care.

Make a cardboard template - cut out the shape and then transfer to lino and cut - make small cuts - easier to take more off than put it back.

OR

Undo the two screws securing to floor - lift slightly and slide lino under then re-secure - seal with silicon sealant

Loosen the screws on the pedastal and ease the lino underneath. Don't forget to tighten the screws back up!

It looks really neat, much better than a 'hack at a circle' job!!!

Good luck.

Vinyl flooring should go under the toilet, not be cut around it. Remove the toilet, install the sheet vinyl then replace the toilet. Be sure to install a new wax seal with a plastic horn.

Uslot offers the better/proper way to install bathroom flooring. The difference in labor to pull and reset the toilet allows a neater finished floor no matter what the substance is, plus allows you to re-install using new hardware and wax ring with a rubber flange embedded.

call a proffesional.. i've just had mine done by one and it looks great..
its not a job that i would undertake myself, its certainly not easy. and i've been in the building trade for around 40 years. if you have just had a new suite, its one of those jobs that should have been done first.
don't attemp it yourself you'll be sorry....
and unless you want to risk cracking the bowl i'd leave it screwed to the floor, especially iuf its close coupled. if it isn't close coupled, well that makes the job a whole lot easier, yes unscrew the pan pull out the pipe that comes from the systern and ease the pan from waste. lay your lino and replace the pan.... job done
