Hi,

I'm purchasing a new house and I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on what color wood I should pick for the blinds to match the rest of the house. Right now we haven't picked flooring yet, so I want to match the blinds with the cabinates which are Maple. I was thinking a lighter color wood. Anyone have some suggestions?

Thanks

Get something that is lighter than your floor and it will match.

it's easire to match these items when they are all in front of you, I would suggest that when you go to your flooring company take a door or drawer from your cabinet with you. Most flooring companies now a days also have interior decorator's let them show you the different colors, styles etc, that's what they are paid for, they you can take all comments as food for thought, when it comes to spending money on blinds and flooring it's better to have it all laid out in front of you. You can also get the name, style and color you like for those items and shop around. you can always find a deal. Remember if you like to sleep in don't go with a light colored blind, if you want light in the bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen go with light colors. If you are going to pick out wood flooring, remember some wood is softer than others and if you have animals make sure the wood you pick will hold up the the animals nails and the running they do. Consider furniture will if leave indentions or scrapes on you new $$$$$ flooring.

We have just purchased 2 inch wood plantations for all our downstairs windows. Our floors and cabinets are cherry and we decided on white wood for a clean crisp look that would work in every room. I suggest that you look at the lighter wood colors. The lighter the wood color, the more open your house will feel.

If you're buying for the kitchen or bathroom, then you'll want to choose a faux wood so the heat/humidity fluctuations in those rooms don't warp or crack the blinds:

A natural wood or even white would look appropriate with the maple cabinets.

Also woven wood shades are great option, and the texture of the wood allows to you kind of mix & match hues:

Yes, go with a lighter shade...the lighter shade witll brighten up the room, and also help to reflect the heat better than if you were to get darker wood

I would go with white because it goes with everything and it also makes a room look bigger, and if you ever want to change the color of the room, you won't have to buy more blinds.

I would go for a 'clean look' that matches anything...white.If your absolutely against that color,I 'wood'pick a medium color,in between light and dark.Everything does not have to match these days....have some fun with it,o.k?

Yes, white blinds. We have them throughout the house and they make the rooms look bright on these cloudy days.

go with basic white - they'll match any flooring, and any paint color on the walls, and later if you repaint, they'll match that too.
