I use newspaper and ammonia to clean my windows

I use paper towels and an up-and-down then side-to-side motion. I do the same again with a wet paper towel (water only, to rinse), and again with a dry towel.

All this work might explain why I hate washing windows.

I don't use newspaper because the ink can come off (though I have heard that currency cleans spectacles). Cotton cloths can leave lint.

After cleaning excess dirt with detergent water, squeegee dry, wipe down excess water with cloth. Spray 1 part vinegar = 5 parts water solution on window. Wipe clean with newspaper in circular motion. If you can reach the outside windows, repeat process. Results: sparkling clean windows.

I saw this on a TV show about cheap ways to clean your house. This is one of the cleaning solutions I never forgot and it works like a dream! Hope it works for you!

Good luck!

Paper Towel is the best choice like bounty or viva work the best for window washing they are soft like a cloth but they don't leave fuzzies on the window. The trick to no streaks is to go in a circular motion. I hope this helps Happy Cleaning!

Definitely NEWSPAPER!! I don't use anything else -- not even paper sheets from magazines that are similar to newspaper -- because it doesn't work. I use Windex vinegar cleaning solution and it works really nicely for mirrors as well!! You must wipe in a circular motion in order to avoid any residues it might leave behind (unusual).

I use a cotton cloth to clean the windows up and down as there is no lint left behind when done that way...

All a matter of preference, but using some alcohol based cleaner with newspaper will get you the best results, IMO, and it will protect from future dirtying.

Try it on a dirty window yourself, I would bet that you would agree with me.

I prefer newpaper... but, I've been using microfiber dust cloths they work really well too... If you are doing both sides of the window change the direction on each side that way if you miss a section you'll know which side to re-do.. Good luck
