Even if I have to live in a camper, home is where the heart is. If I have my husband and family, I am happy.

I love my 1 1/2 story house. A mansion is just way too much house to deal with. As it is, I only spend time in four rooms (5 if you count the bathroom!)

I rather live in a two story house. There will be to much maintance on a mansion. The bills will eat your pocket alive. You will also need a maid to help you keep it clean.

A 2 story house is just fine. I've lived in one for quite a few years with no complaints. But a mansion is sooooo roomy. I could hide in it and no one could find me.Just think of the peace and quiet....LOL

Hi Cja,
This depends very on your own needs and preferences ie. Family members, mom & dad, kids, maid, pets, etc. My advise is that if your 2-storey house has sufficient rooms to house all of your needs with 1-2 rooms spare for guest or entertainment room and you are comfy with the environment - take it. Some of the pros & cons are generally as follows:-
Mansion with amples rooms, large garden space, etc
Too large, need maid/helpers to maintain, clean, upkeep, more water, electricity bills to pay, higher minicipal/property tax, may not be so secure (less neighbours to look-out- too many boundary walls for break-ins), less social interaction-isolated (Have you seen Desperate Housewife- what are neighbours for?), usually not near facilities ie schools, shopping, recreational, etc,
2-storey house within a nice neighbourhood, schools, facilities, etc transport to city:-
Downstairs- Ample garden, garage for 2 cars, enrty porch, living, formal dinning, large dine-in kitchen, pantry, laundry, store, yard for BBQ, guest/entertainment room, beautiful bright staircase to upstair.
2nd floor- Parent's room , 2-3 kids bedrooms all with attached baths, a famliy/TV area, closet, balconies, perhaps a hidden stair to to roomy attic floor above.
Throw in a mini-pool & BBQ area at the rear yard, this will do fine. The rest is up to your imagination.
My advise is that if you are married choose the former as your kids will have a richer growing-up experience & memories than living isolated in a mansion.
Hey Cja.. listen to your heart & go for quality not quantity .....good luck on your decision.

A home with everything on one level is the best and the nearest neighbor a block away.
