I have purchased new 450tc sheets. Is it necessary to wash them before using?

Sorry I have to disagree I like the feel of new sheets before they are washed the first time. It is a personal preference but they do get really wrinkled after washing.

It's really a matter of preference. I wash mine before use because I hate the plasticky smell you often get from the packaging.
Also, if the sheets are a vibrant or dark colour, I would highly recommend washing them because the dye will rub onto you and your mattress and quilt and pillows (if you also purchased pillow cases).

This is something people do by choice. I wash all sheets when they are new, because I read somewhere that they use a chemical to prepare them for packaging, so that's why I do it, to be on the safe side.

Ditto to Dustin E's answer above particularly for sheets with a low thread count.

Always wash anything new before it is worn or used. manufactors use something called "sizing" on clothing, bedding, etc. to make them look nice. Washing also "sets" the color so it won't rub off onto you.

I always wash sheets, towels, underwear, shirts, and socks before I use them - these touch [ at least part ] of your bare body.Be safe.

As my mom says, wash everything you buy before using, as you don't know who's handled it or where it's been before you purchased it.

Yes, they use starch and chemicals when making them that you should wash out. They may irritate your skin.
