I need to make a one way valve that would allow water or other fluid one way but if there is too much pressure on the opposite side the valve will close and stop water from flowing backward.

Can anyone help?

I handle all the fix-it stuff around the house and worked with contractors on two gut renovations + come from a family of DIY'ers. My husband, who is not so handy, recently said I screwed up because our door to the back garden opens in instead of out. I told him that is how exterior doors are - it's convention, but I'd love to give him a bonafide answer.

The wall was spackled in some areas after wallpaper was removed . Also it is a bedroom wall and it is not attached to another wall or building. Do I need to use an oil-based primer to prevent the new paint form cracking?

I have a good vaccum, not the best in the world, but decent... My dog is a German Shepard mix, and her hair is so wirey that it gets stuck deep in the carpet. Is there any kind of powder or spray that will help?

We have a problem at our church with run off water out of the down spouts of our gutters going over our "new" paved parking lot. We would like to bury some drainage lines in the lawn that are connected to the gutters.

Any suggestions as to what I could put behind the board or some kind of backdrop that wouldn't look dumb so when people don't know how to aim, it wont completely destroy the wall?

Not much natural light comes into the room so I want to brighten it up a bit. What color would do that and match the fireplace and hardwood floor? The only color I can think of is white but I would like to be a bit more adventurous than that!
Thanks!

I am trying to decide what kind of cookware set to buy. I don't want to spend a lot (no more than $150, at most) and it doesn't have to be the best, but I want a decent set that will last. I am looking at a KitchenAid Gourmet Reserved set for $129.99 (ceramic and aluminum) at amazon but I am clueless about what I really need. I cook often and I have an electric stove. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Everytime I buy any kind of plant and plant it, it dies, I can't even seem to keep things alive in my house. My husband bought me this plant one time that was supposed to grow to like 6 feet tall and it died in like a few weeks.

In the past month or so, I have discovered not huge mounds, but many smaller ones and armies of ants in long lines, throughout my side yard, mostly concentrated near my garden hose against and under my porch but now pervading almost the entire side of the yard. There are MANY lines of them, they are black (not red) and they bite my dogs' paws when they're out there. This side of the house is where I have fed them, because it is the only part that is shaded. Since I'd have to drench the entire area and my dogs often go here, would orange oil solution be safe and effective if I distribute it throughout? And would a formulation with molasses and dishsoap be safe for the grass there? I don't want to destroy the yard any more than the dogs would on their own! Thanks for any suggestions!

We recently bought this recliner from Haverty's
http://www.havertys.com/catalog/group.do?group=HVT8400-61
All the recliners except one in it go into a total 180 degree position. But one goes only 120 degrees. Is there a way to repair this??
We bought it from their outlet stores and hence I cannot complain. I did not notice this flaw when we picked it up, when we came home, we experienced this..Please help..
