My mom's deck is old but sturdy (she's renting too)... but I'd like to refinish the deck in exchange for their rent remaining the same for two years....

Before I open my mouth... just how much work am I looking at and where can I rent equipment???...

This is what I found on the internet.... didn't look impossible.

Refinish a deck:

1. Use a hammer to refasten protruding nails.
2. Trim raised edges with a sandpaper block, electric sander, or plane.
3. As needed, clean gray or dirty wood with a solution of 1 cup bleach in a gallon of water. Apply with a brush or broom.
4. Use a pressure washer to clean the deck, being careful not to damage the wood with excessive pressure.
5. Apply stain or wood preservative following the manufacturer's instructions.
6. Apply wood sealer following manufacturer's instructions.

I am curently doing my house up to sell. I have employed a local builder/handyman to do the work which should take 2-3 weeks in total. I have agreed to pay him a fixed amount for labour and all material costs (he provides receipts and I give him the money). Last FRiday I agreed to give him half his fee as he needed some cash and he had done nearly half the job (even though taken him nearly 3 weeks just to do half), he was going to phone me Monday about what to do next and another job I had for him at work. He didn;t phone.....I have tried to phone him over past 2 days but his mobile is switched off, I left voicemail and text him putting a delivery report on the text so I know when he has read it. I am now worried that he's decided not to finish the job and left me in a mess. He still has my door key and £100 for materials he was supposed to buy Monday. What can I do ? I only have a mobile and nothing in writing (ok, I am stupid)

I just noticed a roach coming in through my window in my bedroom. Since I heard they still live a week without their head, I figured I shouldn't mash it with my shoe. So I ran and got a glass cleaner spray and sprayed it. It's no longer moving, but I'm afraid that if I stop paying attention to it that it might get up again. Is there something else I should spray it with? Do you think it's dead? Unfortunetly I don't have a spray that actually is supposed to kill roaches.

Sorry if I spelled things wrong, but I'm typing quickly because I need to get back to the roach.

I dread fall we have so many leaves, I moved here from south florida and the trees are small down there. We do not have to bag them just get them to the curb. Anything easy and cheap would sound good to me.

You know what I mean.
The IKEA organize drawers that you put under the bed, the shelfs and cabinets.
I don't have all that stuff, and wont get it.

I have a desk with a shelf on it, a dresser with hamster cages and fish tanks on it, a bed, a side table for my clock and cell phone, and then a small closet full of clothes, books, blankets, etc.

What are you tips on cleaning your room?
I always seem to get distracted, like I turn up the music and start cleaning then the phone rings or something, or someone comes in my room (my dad) and starts talking to me or goes to the bathrroom or something (to get to the bathroom you have to go through my room), etc.

I always have trouble just setting my mind to doing it, and my room is CONSTANTLY messy, and I Have loads of crap.

I moved back into a apartment complex that I'd lived in 14 years ago and there was cockroaches then, I found out that there was still roaches and the place has been sprayed, poisened several times and they are still here in this complex. Sometimes I see a couple sometimes I see a lot, I just want to get rid of the buggers once and for all, I'm sick of them.

Is it okay to put this stuff in my compost bin? A neighbor told me no I shouldn't but isn't that what it's doing in the compost bin anyway is molding? I'm not using any compost medium, just grass clippings and fruit veggie trash. Won't the heat created by the compost kill anything that is too bad?

I've got a problem. The toilet is clogged and the plunger worked for a little bit. But no longer does the job. I fear there is something in it since my friends toilet did the same thing and we removed G.I. Joe and a Hot Wheels from it. So how do I get the unwanted object out without tearing the toilet apart?.... Hanger wont work. I tried. ( I think I might need stitches) lol

I am trying to decide on a new washer and dryer (front loading) and would like to find a recent Canadian consumer report where washers and dryers were evaluated. Or feedback from people who recently purchased a set.
