We have a massive slug problem in the garden of our house in suburban brent (NW London) and my girlfriends mum surguested getting a duck. We have enough room, it's just unclear from the research I've done whether there are any laws against it?

You would need to check your Local Bylaws with the council but I can't see any reason why not! Ducks are certainly less intrusive than a lot of dogs! Don;t have just one - get two!

I think you might find that you have more problems with what comes out of the rear end of the duck than you do with the slugs.
They are really messy.

It shouldn't be a problem but you'd have to do a lot of research into keeping them! Will you need a pond?! A friend of mine has always kept geese (they're wonderful guard animals!) and no-one has ever said anything about that.
