The previous owners of the house put in really cool blinds in the living room windows. However, they had to take the screens out of the windows in order to make the blinds fit! I love the blinds, but I want to be able to open my windows without having every creepy crawly inside the house! I'm so furious! Is there anything that I can do/use to keep the blinds, but to have some screens?

I LOVE heavy fragrances that permeate the clothing & stay in it. Is there some secret method to make your clothes smell great? (And as CHEAPLY as possible?)....Dryer sheets don't work for me--they smell great while using, but the smell evaporates quickly; so I've switched to liquid softener, but can't find anything strong enough!

I have used TIde powder with Gain liquid softener in the past & it was wonderful, but recently, it's not as strong as it used to be and am TIRED of WASTING MONEY on name brands that smell great initially but then fade off the clothing! Maybe the old-timey DOWNY softener would work?

I am redoing a bathroom (repaint, upgrade, etc.). I am going to replace the linoleum flooring with ceramic tile flooring. I am also going to replace the existing toilet. I am thinking that before i install the new toilet, that I should install the flooring to surround the toilet drain pipe, allowing the toilet flange to rest on top of the new flooring, and THEN install the toilet.

Is this the best way to go?? The only option i can think of would be to go ahead and replace the toilet onto the floor, and then cut the tile to go around the toilet instead of under it. This seems like it would not look right.

Please give advice. Feel free to be detailed with advice too, but try to keep the terminology simple. Thanks in advance for any help.

I took the air filter off and it seem to be getting plenty of fuel. If I let it sit for a few hours it will start and run fine for about 20min. Could it be a vapor lock ? If so how do I go about checking for it and how do I correct it ? What else should I check ?

Landscapers charge us for like... $2000-$2500... and... we feel like... it's not worth it... so we decided to get the materials our self so it would cost less.. but i don't think it's easy because,,, first of all... bricks are heavy... secondly we don't have a truck to carry those bricks from home depot... so what's a cheap and easy way to landscape our backyard?

Can a live oak tree with branches hanging 25 feet over neighbor's wall and swimming pool be trimmed by that neighbor. Also is there a protected species ordinance or law concerning live oaks in incorporated areas of Los Angeles County

I am a16. I have great furniture like a dresser, bedside table and a bed. The furniture is not a problem it is all new. I have a comforter similar to the one below, but has brown stripes as well. I have a big pink sphere chair and a very contemporary painting. I can't spend much more, so please give me some ideas. I also can't paint, but it is a dull shade of yellow. I want my room to have more personality! I really like contemporary design.

How can i find out when my house was built,i live in London.

I live in an apartment that is one half below ground. I'm in the Chicago area and we've had a ton of rain. Over the last couple of days, water has been slowly seeping in along the baseboards and soaking up though the carpet and padding.

My question is, is this a leaking foundation that is going to be a problem in the future too? I know we've had an abnormal amount of rain, but is it going to leak slowly and less noticeably at other times and be a risk of mold?

My landlord says we can get out of the lease and lose no money, but I don't want to have to move if I can avoid it. And I also don't want to be around if they are going to be tearing up the foundation and walls for repairs.

Any advice at all would be helpful. What would you do in my situation?

In my "garden" that I'm creating there is loads of moss on the wall, and LOADS of ants all over the concrete. Really, it's not a garden, its a small space with concrete floor that I'm going to start planting things in pots in. Today I just went down, and there are all slug/snail trails over the place. The garden is completely empty, but there is a gate that leads to someone elses much larger garden. So I need to know how to get rid of all the ants (repellant?), the moss on the wall because it looks damn ugly, and the tedious slugs and snails that are inviting themselves into my garden.

Thanks.

I love the flower on this plant and am trying to figure out what it is. I thought it was a hosta as the leaves look identical. But I don't believe that is what it is. The flowers spike out like a hosta but have a much thicker stem. The one I have has a white flower and is extremely fragrant. They have an oblong flower when closed that opens up to a funnel shaped flower. My hostas finished flowering many weeks ago here in Connecticut and these plants have just flowered now. I'd love to get more of these but don't know what they are! Any ideas?

I'm used to hot, but not humid. I'm thinking about moving to an area that is both hot and humid, and I won't be wanting to use the a/c much.

I noticed when I was visiting a hot, humid climate, some houses were very hot and some were very pleasant--on the same day, only a mile or two apart.

What makes one house be cooler? I'd be interested in all sorts of factors: For example, what areas to look for when buying a house; position of windows when building a house; material of the flooring; direction the windows are facing; trees and landscaping; interior design; etc. etc.

Thanks!

A friend gave me a cutting of a jade plant. It has grown, but now it has white "stuff" on its leaves and branches. Could this be a disease? Insect larvae? What should I do about it? The plant is growing in spite of this.

Does anyone have clear instructions on how to make a Tote bag to carry the flags for colour guard? I was hoping to be able to carry the 5 1/2 and 6 in the big part and perhaps a front pocket to hold the semis. Any help and I love you.
