I've recently done a plastering course, and now feel reasonably confidentt to tackle some jobs in my home. I have fairly long walll to plaster, and am a little worried that I might not work fast enough to get the second coat on before the first coat goes off. Does anyone have any tips? I thought about using plaster flatness guides to section off the walls, but will I be able to "key" in a new section into a dried section?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Boyfriend bought first property for his business he wants to start and I am responsible for painting this room. The trim is wood with old paint already on it! The people before didn't do a good job trimming! It's not real bad but I really want it to look good and I have masked all the trim so it doesn't get worse snd add more paint to the problem! So how do you take old paint off of wood window and door trim without ruining the wood? Also, in what order would you go to turn a room around into something better, well where do you start first? Please help I am not sure!

I know they are beneficial to the environment, and that most of them are not harmful (especially where I live. There are no black widows and I have never seen a brown recluse), but I am still terrified of the thought of having any of them in my house. So scared, that I cannot make myself finish unpacking from moving because I'm afraid they will be in the boxes (some boxes have been sitting in a room for 8 months now). How can I stop being so scared!? I just want to not feel like a prisoner in my own home!

I have a large schefflera in a big pot in my house. She is about three years old and is one of the ones that has about four or five long stalks about 2-3 feet tall with lots of the five leaf clusters, but in the last few months the leaves have been falling off. They don't turn yellow and die, they just get limp and dull looking and droop and then fall off. She is really getting bald looking, or like she's been through a hurricane. I have given her miracle gro and moved her for some more sun, but nothing seems to help. Anyone have any suggestions about what's wrong with her or what could help? I am really worried about her.

Does anyone have one of these hoovers? If you do is it any good for the price?
Believe it or not I have never had to buy a hoover as my mum gave me her old one when I moved out and it's just broke after all these years! Can only really afford one around this price or am I kidding myself and I really should be spending more on one? (Bit of a hoover buying novice!)
Thanks in advance!

Several months ago I noticed my water pressure dropped, But thought I was imagining things. Then when I was watering my lawn my neighbor came out to water hers, and as soon as she turned hers on, my water pressure dropped. Now my water pressure has dropped some more and I am curious as to what could be causing this and some ways to figure out what the issue is. Thanks in advance for any advice. By the way I have city water, if this matters.

I have a cheap but effective charcol grill that I use for cooking. Could I use it as a mini firepit if I just clean the charcol out and use a little wood in it? I can't afford to buy a firepit right now and I thought this would do in a pinch. Whaddya think? Would it work and be safe? Has anyone tried this? Thanks in advance for your answers! :)

Worms and beetles are crawling under the door!!!! What's a natural way to repel them and keep them outside? We are trying to get the landlord to put on correct weather stripping around the door asap. What products can you recommend that really work as far as bug killers?

I have this uneven area that's full of grass, weeds, stumps, rocks, and ferns,,, I would like to create a clean flat area that I can build raised beds for fruits and vegitables, also for a rose garden. What steps do I need to take? I am hoping that I don't have to bring in a heavy equipment to do this type of job. Can I simply cover the area with some landscaping fabrics and cover / flaten with dirts?

When we lived in an apartment it seemed like I hit this steel stud everytime I would try to hang pictures with a nail. Eventually, after hammering for 5 or 6 times, I will finally get sheetrock that I can hammer the nail into. We just purchased a brand new home and these homes are made from a steel frame. I am running into the same issue when trying to hammer the nail, except it seems like the nail is springing back out the hole.

How can I tell right off the bat, a good place to hang my pictures WITHOUT putting a million holes in the wall?

Im finally redecorating and Ive been drooling over my vision of painting it in the medium-dark brown shade of "Copper wire" ......I cant really find a direct link to it but if you go to www.sherwin.com and then quick search copper wire then a color sample comes up. I love this shade of brown so much, and it goes with all of my brightly colored paintings and oranges and purples (mostly all tropical looking with multiple bright colors), and I feel like this brown would be a good base for all of it. Whites and creams really bore me out, but do I have a choice since my room is small?

Honestly the fact that my decorations: paintings, pillowcases, abanicos (spanish handpainted fans) are so colorful is my biggest problem....because any one color (like light orange or light purple) just wouldnt fit right.

p.s - I have one large window in my room and its current color is an ugly dull shade of powder blue that matches NOTHING... not even my style or personality.

Off white background with two-tone leaves, and colorful pink & red blossoms, smaller yellow blossoms. The back ground is filled with blue-grey leaves and wiggly lines, as well as some blue-grey branches. The dishes are rimmed with a deep green narrow border. Pieces include two small bowls with two handles - one on each side.
Can anyone tell me what this unusual pattern is?
