"tatami tan" by Sherwin Williams. Calming as well as neutral, so you can coordinate with any color of bedding & artwork you may have.

I suggest never starting a room design with a paint color. That is the easiest choice to make being that you have the widest selection to choose from.
First, what do you have already to work with?
Find inspiration. A favorite picture. A pillow. Drapes. A figurine. A sheet set. Your favorite flower. Even a favorite shirt (the color that predominates your wardrobe). Look at your jewelry. You'll find something -- one piece -- that can inspire an entire room design. And last, choose your wall color to tie it all together. Remember, that's just a background color, and neutrals or very soft, muted colors work best and tire least quickly, and are most versatile when changing things around. If you like strong colors -- use them as accents for punch.
Think of calming, soothing colors for a bedroom. Think of colors that complement you, as well.
Also, think of the lighting you get in your room through your windows. Is it cool light or warm light? Warm light if the sun rises on that side where your room is, and cool light if it sets on that side, or if it's a low lit room. Once that's determined: use warmer colors in a cool lit room, and cooler colors in a warm lit room. Cool colors on the wheel are greens, blues and violets. Warm colors are oranges, yellows and reds.

Currently, I have a warm, creamy hue on my walls, it makes my house feel open and sunny. I paired the walls with a sandy tan carpet, white trip, burgundy bed spread and mahogany furniture. It's gorgeous.
Before this, I had dark green walls. Not hunter green, nor olive, just a rich green. I used a green and burgundy bed spread, dark antique furniture and used cream and white accents. It looked beautiful also. You can never go wrong with creams, whites, tans, greens, blues, yellows or burgundy's. Stay away from pink, orange, lime, red and neon colors since you may get tired of them quickly. If you like color, go for a slightly darker shade than you really like, it will look good on the walls.

What are your likes and dislikes as far as color? I usually go to Lowes and or Home Depot. They have a whole wall of different paint samples that you can really look through and they even have paint color sample cards that you can take home with you! You can even find FREE sample books / pamphlets from the paint companies that have swatches of color that you can take home and look through. I think Gliden has a pamphlet with post-it note type samples that peel out of the pamphlet and stick on your wall to see how it might look! I usually try to find a color from my bed comforter, throw pillows or even decorations in my room that I really like to. NOW these stores have what is called color match! You bring in a piece of fabric or throw pillow with the color you like and they can match it on their computers! Hope this helped! Good like with the painting!!
