I am a16. I have great furniture like a dresser, bedside table and a bed. The furniture is not a problem it is all new. I have a comforter similar to the one below, but has brown stripes as well. I have a big pink sphere chair and a very contemporary painting. I can't spend much more, so please give me some ideas. I also can't paint, but it is a dull shade of yellow. I want my room to have more personality! I really like contemporary design.

Looks like you have really great taste. Maybe a rug would be nice. I suggest adding lots of pictures of friends. Ooh! And a bulletin board woud be cool, AND you can make them yourself! That could hold pics of you friends and memorabilia! Lamps are cool. And decorative pillows or sitting pillows are cute and you can make those yourself too. Good luck!

How a bout putting fake flowers on your dresser in a nice vase? You could go to the local dollar store and get a glass vase and some flowers for a very inexpensive price. You could also incorporate dark brown into the room somehow . Brown and pink go great together! Also, if you want an even more comptemporary look, lose the stripe comforter and go with something that’s one solid color. Also, maybe you could blow up photos of your friends and family and make them sepia and frame them, if you chose to go with pinks and browns, which would look very nice. You could hang them in rows, horizontally on a small section of the wall.

However, if the yellow walls are very noticable, you might want to make the theme yellow and pink. If you do this right, it wont be child-like. You could use yellow and pink as your colors but have silk pillows, long draperies etc to give the room class. You could still do the fake flower thing and everything.

I would get rid of the yellow. Paint is cheap and makes a huge difference. Get a friend to help. Some of your own pics(friends classmates-football team) make a nice statement. Good luck ! You have a very good start.

Add some light pink, hot pink, and brown accessories.
1] make a fabric colored bulletin board, in a light pink pattern with dark pink or brown ribbon. Staple lace around edges.
2] make a floral wreath or swag, with eucalyptus and your favorite pink flowers.
3] get or cover some pillows in pink or brown, or pink and brown prints. Put on bed and chair.
4] use lace or ribbon or rick rack for tiebacks, or tie on rods between curtains.
5] get candles in pink, in dark brown [ wooden ] , or silver candleholders.
