We will be building a new home soon and are watching our budget. We plan to have a 3' by 4' shower. I was wondering what the cost difference would be between a tiled shower with 12" x 12" tiles and a pre made fiberglass unit. We currently have a fiberglass unit, but am unhappy with the stains. I think the tiled shower would last longer and look great. Any thoughts on the cost of each as well as durability and ease of cleaning would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Plastic trees don't work. Soil is too dry to grow much.
I still want a natural look.

I live in a townhome which the association requires that patio door replacements must conform with the rest of the units. After conferring with a number of window stores, it appears that my patio door (circa 1996) is no longer produced. So essentially, I am in need of a custom solution... made to order patio doors. Help!

I want to cut down on my garbage bill and am wanting to put my decomposables in a bin or whatever outside, not open. I have dogs who will get into it. I live in Oregon and it rains in the winter a lot and is hot in the summer, any cheap easy ideas that cost next to nothing ?

I want to build a 12 volt dc fan cause here in Ohio it's upto 100 degrees damn near every day where i am. Why 12 volt you ask, it's not specifically for me, it's for the inside of a computer, but i feel like a little DIY project, so i figured i'd have a go at building one myself. So i'm gonna need some kind of motor that runs off 12 volts, one that's preferably about as small as a penny, although a cent sized one should be fine. How would i go about making one of these ?
I figure when i get the motor sorted everything else should just be basic DIY, i can make some fan blades really easy, but is there anyway to figure out the optimum number of fan blades to get the maximum air flow ? I'm guessing that that's related to how powerful the motor is. I know it'd be easier just buying one but i feel like building something, and i'm not going to build it and sticking it straight into the computer i'll be testing it out with 2 6volt batteries in series first. Thanks, David.

Because I was too lazy and too busy wasting my time answering other people's questions, I didn't bother to start my laundry until this evening. I finished one load and hung it on the clothesline outside at around 7:45 PM, at right around sundown. The second load was hung at around 8:30 PM. after the sun was completely down. I am in NY, it is now 76 degrees outside at 9 PM, the low for tonight is 73. It is a little humid (82%), and some wind (13 mph). Any chance my clothes will dry by around 1 or 2 AM when I go to bed?

I don't want to leave them out overnight and take them in tomorrow morning, because:
(1) I live in a garden apartment complex, although the chances of my clothes being stolen are very low.
(2) There are chances of scattered thunderstorms later tonight and tomorrow.

I have to block the water coming off a county bike path from pouring into our house. I'm not sure who is the most capable business to call. We have hit a dead end with trying to get help from the county or town, so we want to take it into our own hands, but we want to do it right.

My water heater was working perfectly fine until I turned off the water supply to the house. When I turned the water supply back on, the water heater was leaking tremendously; not just a little leak, but a constant flood of water that was almost flooding my backyard. I turned off the water flow to the water heater, but how can I fix the leak?

They all have hydraulic elevators installed for convenience and handicapped. On his newest project he is wondering what manufacutre of elevator to use in it. On the last one he paid a ton of money for an Otis elevator and it's constantly having problems. He has 2 others that have the Schindler 330A elevators. So far they've only needed the regular maintenance and alway? They also always pass state inspection. The Otis one is noisy and rough. Should he just stick with Schindler?
He's noticed the Schindler starts off very smothly and the otis jerks.

Thanks from Mike, Kevin's uncle.

Hi,
I am replacing carpet in my living room with hardwood. We have white baseboard which compliments the room paint. In kitchen we have laminate and it has white shoe molding.

Installer is suggesting to use (expensive) wood shoe molding - basically to match the floor, than the baseboard.

I like how the kitchen looks, so thinking I can save some money and get good looks by using white shoe molding (painted white).
What do you say?
