I want to build a 12 volt dc fan cause here in Ohio it's upto 100 degrees damn near every day where i am. Why 12 volt you ask, it's not specifically for me, it's for the inside of a computer, but i feel like a little DIY project, so i figured i'd have a go at building one myself. So i'm gonna need some kind of motor that runs off 12 volts, one that's preferably about as small as a penny, although a cent sized one should be fine. How would i go about making one of these ?
I figure when i get the motor sorted everything else should just be basic DIY, i can make some fan blades really easy, but is there anyway to figure out the optimum number of fan blades to get the maximum air flow ? I'm guessing that that's related to how powerful the motor is. I know it'd be easier just buying one but i feel like building something, and i'm not going to build it and sticking it straight into the computer i'll be testing it out with 2 6volt batteries in series first. Thanks, David.

Why build one? I went to Wal-Mart and bought two for my PC for just $9.98 on sale and set them on the floor behind my PC, works great.

Is there a Radio Shack in your area? They have 12 volt fans ready to install in a computer. You can even use it to cool yourself. If you really insist on building it yourself, then they also sell motors.
