Vacuum cleaner, Dirt Devil 2 12 amp, how to lower it, given to me ???

I can tell the motor works well. A friend gave this to me and I'm sure it is old but works. Is there an online manual or ???? way to find out how to use and upkeep it ? thanks you experts !!
