Me and my wife just signed the lease to our beautiful new home. We love everything about it... except for the carpet. The stains are horrible. Stanley steamers just came and steam cleaned it and most of the stains wont come out. Our landlord won't replace the carpet. And ideas other then using rugs

I live in a city with folks next door able to see right into our windows if the curtains are left open. Ideally I would like to apply some kind of film/coating to windows that don't impact sunlight coming into a room nor the view from inside-out, but do prevent people from outside the home to see inside...similar to 2-way glass I guess?

Originally I was told engineered is better. More stable. Less likely to warp. Because it is superior and harder to make it is more expensive.
Today, my contractor said I should use solid wood.
So far I learned that engineered wood contains formaldihide.
Also, that one supplier won't sell engineered wood.
Would love to know if I was sold a bill of goods early on.
Alternatively, want to make sure I buy the right product.

I have climbing rose plants that I don't want. I live in San Francisco, CA. Is there some sort of neighborhood garden or org. who will accept these plants as a donation? No need for a receipt, I just want them to go to a new home. Thanks.

I live in San Francisco, CA and I read somewhere that rose plants should be cut down once a year. My question is when? How much should I cut too? Thank you.

The lights on our garage door opener no longer turn off. When you press the button on the wall mount, you can hear that there's something in the garage door opener trying to do something, but nothing's happening. The lights stay on. They even stay on, instead of flashing, when you go across the safety sensor.

What should we look at inside the unit itself to try to fix it? It's not that old of an opener; we really don't want to replace it.

My neighbors have two hugh Oak trees which hang over into my backyard. The leaves, believe it or not have already started to fall, and every morning my pool is covered with them. How do I get rid of these branches. My neighbors are really great but they won't get rid of the trees. Come the fall I get over 80% of the leaves. It may sound crazy but I have no trees on my property (less than a 1/4 acre) but because of their trees I bag about 50 bags of leaves a year.
I've thought about hiring someone but the cost is unbelievably high, even to just trim the branches off my property line. Should I sneak over there at night and try to weaken the tree somehow.
I'm really at a loss what to do. Thanks for your help.

Any suggestions or tips on how to ensure their survival?

I have a small trimming from each (about a foot or so long). They are in seperate vases in about 2 inches of water. Inside my garage(not air conditioned) but in a window sill with sunlight aplenty.

What else should I do for them? I would like to plant them in the front of my yard as they both have beautiful colors.

Also, how long do you think it will take them to start to root, and when they do start, how long before I put them into a pot of soil? Or will I have time to put them straight into the ground this year?

Wow, about 4 questions and it only cost me 5 points!

Hi all,
Just wondering what y'all might think on how I might cut a vinyl rail fencing. It's 1 1/2 X 5 1/2 X 16. Sorry, I don't know how thick the walls are.
Would a Hack Saw with "fine teeth" work? How can I get the cuts perfect?

Thanks all!
