Me and my wife just signed the lease to our beautiful new home. We love everything about it... except for the carpet. The stains are horrible. Stanley steamers just came and steam cleaned it and most of the stains wont come out. Our landlord won't replace the carpet. And ideas other then using rugs

Regular cheap shaving cream/toothbrush... NOT shaving gel, cream.... Just apply to stains and scrub gently with the toothbrush.. Rinse and blot with a light absorbant towel.. I would however, take picture's of the stains that Stanley Steamer wouldn't get out and keep them handy for when you decide to move.. In MOST landlord/tennant agreements it's the responsibility of the landlord to repaint/replace or have cleaned the carpet when a new tenant moves into the dwelling.. If the carpet cannot be cleaned they need to replace it.. I would tell him that you have allergies to what may have "been" in the carpet to begin with and see if he's willing to replace..

like pebbles said most landlord tenant dwelling contracts you should take pictures of the stains on the carpet keep them with the receipts from Stanly steamer for records when you move but check your local codes to see if your landlord is responsible for the carpet if he is then tell him the stains will not come out and he should change the carpet. if the carpet is light color try the simple green trick but don't let the cleaner dry it will possibly discolor the carpet if let to dry before blotted up

Slightly diluted Simple Green (home depot, some grocery stores...)
Spray it on the stain and let it soak in for at least 5-10 minutes, but don't let it dry... let it soak in and even stains like strawberry, tomato sauce, dirt, you name it will come out.
Plus, Simple Green is really gentle, so no nasty chemical smells...
