I live in a city with folks next door able to see right into our windows if the curtains are left open. Ideally I would like to apply some kind of film/coating to windows that don't impact sunlight coming into a room nor the view from inside-out, but do prevent people from outside the home to see inside...similar to 2-way glass I guess?

It is not as easy to see into windows as you might think; during the day, reflections from outside objects are usually brighter than images from inside. However, film is available from large hardware stores that will make it yet more difficult; the primary purpose of such film is to reduce heat loss through infrared radiation, but it is semi-reflective in the visible range as well. I used it on house windows years ago and found it satisfactory. But it will not be at all helpful at night: if you want to keep the nosy neighbors at bay when it is dark, you will have to close the drapes.

Yes, it's a thin plastic film you apply to the inside of your windows. It reflects heat and makes it hard to see inside. It should be available at any home improvement store.

you may purchase a mylar action picture to placed on your homestead windows. it works super ... as long as that is brighter outdoors than it is interior. At night ... in case you have no longer have been given any reliable source of light good outdoors the window ... and you have your lighting fixtures on interior ... you won't be able to see outdoors - yet outdoors can see YOU! i might propose drawing the curtains at night - or mounting a bright easy outdoors (yet that ought to no longer be an selection!)
