We will be tiling a backsplash directly onto drywall after our countertops are installed. My question is -- what do I do about the electrical outlets in that area? The tile is about 1/4 inch thick -- and I want the outlets even with the tile (right?) After I tile around the outlet openings, then how do you make them flush when you put everything back together? For example, do I just pull the sockets out so that the screw brackets sit on top of the tile? If so, then do I need to drill screw holes through the tile? If so, then how do I make sure that the tile does not break or crack?

I bought 30 Laurel plants to create a hedge. Planted, watered and fed them well, and now find the lower leaves are turning yellow. My suppliers advised me to cut them down by half of their growth above one of the many buds on the stem, this will cause bushier growth and should cure the problem. I've done this, and hope it'll be alright, but still wonder EXACTLY what might have caused this problem. I have watered them regularly, and they have been fed but not over much. Any Greenfingers out there with good sensible advice please get in touch. Thanks. Jan

I think that it is made of alderwood. It came with a Amercian Standard sink that I purchased. Nothing in the box about it's care, or store.

Don't ya hate it when people post questions on Y/A looking for help fixing something, but leave it so vague that nobody can possibly answer them?
I saw one earlier: How do I line up power steering belt?
ON WHAT? A car, a tractor? How is is misalligned? WHAT!
I like to help people figure things out, but I'm not a mind reader!
Anybody else feel this way, or is it just me?

will have an effect on the performance of a refrigerator. I work in an office. Everyone on our floor shares a refrigerator. People bring all their stuff in in plastic grocery bags and stuff it in the fridge and it drives me nuts!!!!!! I once heard that this can cause the refrigerator's thermostat to malfunction. Just wondered if this was a fact and if you know of anywhere I could find facts about this that i could pass on?
I mean personally, I don't see why they can't just take the stuff outta the bag?

My toilet would not flush at all this morning - there was no water in the tank. I filled the tank, and it flushed fine. I have not tested it again (had to leave for work). Any ideas why the water left the tank dry and how to test/fix it myself?

I have about 6" of topsoil over clay in my whole yard. This results in soggy lawn all winter and most of Spring, plus un-usable yard for at least a week after every rain. Chicago area. What is the best way to drain off the water trapped on top of the clay? Will doing so mean the grass will suffer from lack of moisture?

My toliet was fine, then on Sunday I put one of those blue things to help water stains in my toilet tank, by monday it was leaking from one of the tank bolts. We cleaned out the blue stuff, flushed several times to make sure it was out, after we did that the leak disappeared. What happened and do I need to replace my toliet, if the leak stopped.

My yard is swamped by day lillies. Apparently the previous owner loved them. I want to remove them so I can put other stuff there, but even the ones I dug up last fall are coming up again. Please help! I really don't like lillies--they remind me of death way too much to be comforting.

I saw a powerpoint + switch face plate the other day and I'm very interested in making it work. Essentially it will allow me to convert an ordinary light switch to a powerpoint without running addition wires.

This is how it looks like: http://www.hpm.com.au/Products/?S=1905, the 3rd one from the top (Cat. No. 787X)

Problem is that it doesn't come with any instructions. By the look of it, it requires 2 sets of wires, 1 set goes to the switch, and the other goes to the socket.

However, there's only 1 set of wire leading to the existing light switch. I was wondering is it safe to tap the power from the light switch to power the socket? I intend to use the socket to power a computer.

Thanks.

Just hoping someone out there has an answer. When I turn on a faucet at home there is sometimes a delay before water comes out. Other times the water flow starts, then it seems like air is forced through and water goes everywhere. Finally water may spurt out, then nothing for a few seconds, and then the flow resumes.

I am lost on this one and would greatly appreciate any help.
