I am looking around for a new couch and typically try to look for the quality of the leather, the warranty on the frame and cushions etc. What are other pitfalls to watch out for?

I am thinking of constructing my own home in Australia. We are currently going through a drought, so the land is pretty dry here.

I have a large area of new decking and need to know whether to use Cuprinol spray stain preserver or the Ronseal type with a pad on a stick. It would take far too long with a brush though a brush might be the answer to the spindles on the balustrade around it.

I have recently moved into a new well not reallly new house but its a big 4 bedroom house. We love it and we looked for a year to find the one that was absolutely right for us. However, I just walked into my kitchen and there was a Cockroach crawling on my kitchen floor! I keep my house very clean. I was told that this house was vacant for 3 months frior to us moving in. Is it possible that they were already here? The appliances were included with the house. Could they live in there for that long and just now started coming out? How can I get rid of them before they take over my home? Don't really want to call an exterminator if I can keep from it.

Can adding earthworms to my flower garden & to my vegetable garden help in the overall growth of my plants?

I was basically going to buy nightcrawlers from a bait & tackle shop. But which types of worms should I use?

Lastly, I plan on using compost & a compost bin in my garden this year. What other natural/organic tips can I use for my garden?

I see that GE makes those reveal bulbs (I've also seen generic brands popping up as well).

Are these the best bulbs to make my white wallpaper look white (it has a yellow tinge with a regular bulb)?

I want to be able to bypass the power vent thermostat so that I can turn the fan on manually during the winter. The thermostat only goes as low as 50 degrees. I need to be able to turn it on to keep the attic below 32 degrees in the winter. I don't want to eliminate the thermostat all together, because it will do its job fine during the hot summer months.
