Help. My glass patio table on my deck, blew over and broke, my husband cut a peice of wood to fit, I was wondering if I could do a mosaic on it? What would I treat the wood with so it doesnt warp? and what would be the best material to use to do a mosiac. Thanks in advance for the help.

Replace the wood with cement board, & do the mosaic in tile.
It'll look really nice, & last a long long time.
Hope this helped, good luck!!

It sounds like you work hard for the money, and for anyone that rides a bike, ( I am a female Harley rider), knows how therapeutic going for a ride can be. There is a saying,,, 'You never see a motorcycle parked outside of a therapists office'. She is without a doubt going overboard, any woman who spends time in the kitchen would be thrilled to have the layout you have given her. Here's the deal, she needs a hobby, a job, perhaps learn to ride a bike as well, it is completely unfair that a partner would try to convince the other to give up a passion. She is lucky you have been so generous to her, you could be chasing other women instead of riding your bike. If you relent and give up the bike, what next will she want you to deprive yourself of? Keep the bike, and tell her to earn that beautiful kitchen by using it and leaving you alone! Good Luck and keep your knees in the breeze...

The backer board can also go on top of the wood, if you want it to be sturdier. The backer board will provide a good surface for tiling on top of, and it's cheap! You can get it in 1/4" thick or 1/8" thick. Have fun!

I am doing this right now to our table as the same thing happened. Use porcelain tile. What i have done is picked the tile that we liked and i am putting one big one in the center (20X20) inch tile and then I will be dropping the other tiles on the floor and breaking them . I will then take the broken pieces and placing them in a random pattern around the center piece. You then grout to fill in the openings and you are ready to enjoy.

All 3 first answers are valid, and certainly consider that an exterior table with any wood involved will have issues of degrading over time.

Concrete backer board is readily available, is easy to work with, and will accept whatever mortar/grout you choose. If you have access to a Home depot or Lowes they very often sell "Culled" material, and you might pick up a half sheet of backer board, causing less waste. You might also check with local tile contractors, for the same.

The tile and method of Mosaic certainly are your choice. I did my kitchen in broken terra cotta, in an area approx 14 x 20.

The mortar/grouts should be exterior grade, and just have fun with the project.
