It probably won't get them clean. (And it's nasty). Put them in a regular (clothes) washer.

I'd be worried about the high temperature in the dishwasher melting something on the shoes. Depending on the materials you can wash them in the washing machine.

Yes, remove the laces & inserts. Use the bottom rack. Use only dishwasher soap. Set your dishwasher to sanitize if you can. Oh, it's pretty rough on leather. Don't use heat dry and don't leave them in once the cycle is done. Air dry. You might want run an empty load with soap before the next load of dishes.
PS. Try steamed potatoes in the top rack. MMM!!!

You'll burn your rubber insoles and warp your shoe because the water is really hot. It sterilizes the dishes with immense heat and melts plastic cups. The washing machine is safer.

Put them in a cold wash through a clothes washer...leave them outside to dry, you can use normal clothes powder.(It can be done with normal washing.)

i dont think that it would clean them all that great. Do you not have a washing machine? if not then why not hand wash them in the sink
