I love leather. Yes you do have to wash and condition it now and then but it lasts a long, long time. I've had mine for years and it looks great, it's aging represents my life, it does not look worn, just lived on. When buying leather watch where the seams are sewn. You want to keep full pieces of leather where there would be stress on the furniture, for example, the arms and the back area and the seat. Also, if you can move the arms or back the piece is not solid, keep looking.

One thing that annoys me about my husband is that he doesn't like some of my family memebers. when we were dating i knew this but he was still kind of nice to them. now that we are married he is rude and is always expressing to me that he doesnt like them. I havent been able to fix this problem yet... advice: sometimes things that annoy you a little (while u r dating) may become a bigger problem later. He doesn't clean up after himself well not right away. For example he will eat lunch and leave his plate, soda, and ketchup on the table. Most of the time im at work during this time (he works the night shift) I'll come home and ask him to pick up his stuff and he'll say "in a minute." Then he'll either fall asleep or he'll wait until dinner to clear it off and make a new mess. advice: if u r a person who likes to keep a clean house make sure that they are the same way. I am christian and he is agnostic. at first this did not bother me at all because i wasn't going to church all that often. now when i want to go to church he asks me "why?" advice: make sure ya'll are either the same religion or that u won't have a problem with the other religion and decide which u will practice once u have children. there is so much more..... just take ur time and make the right decision.... talk about ur future together a lot before u take that step.... by future i mean even the little things ie laundry or what bank u'll be using. GOOD LUCK PS There are also a lot of things i like about my husband lol

Cost is a big one...Shop around for the styles, size, and comfort level you like and then narrow down by cost. The same couch could be priced VERY differently by different retailers. Also, check the manufacturer and retailer out on the web and see if there are any consumer complaints.
Others may be delivery fees not stated up front and the cleaning agents they try and sell. They are like..."If you don't use this product, your couch will be destroyed!" And you are like..."Is that true? Oh no, I better get the $100 bottle of leather cleaner or else I'm doomed!!"

If you have children, do NOT buy white. We had a white couch and its now in our basement. Its beige now. Pretty gross looking. Leather gets sticky, so I don't advise you to that. Get something with removable covers on the cushions so that they can be washed.

I once heard that if you lean really hard on the arm of a chair or sofa with your hand and if you can feel the wood underneath it's not a well made sofa. Went with that theory in purchasing my last sofa 3 years ago and they still look brand new. I believe it really works.

You are on the right track but most people forget to measure their doorways and space to ensure the pieces will fit. I sold furniture and you would be amazed at how many people didn't even think to measure.
