We used paint stripper on a set of hand blown glasses and now we are not sure whether we can use them.

I want to buy a hammock to hang in our garden between two trees which are 10 feet apart. I don't want to bring it in every time we have bad weather. I want to use it for reading and sleeping, and for my two young kids to enjoy swinging and playing in it. Any advice from personal experience? Thanks in advance.

I have a wooden chopping board, and usually just wipe it with hot water, but every few days wash it in the sink with detergent. It seems to be getting an odd smell, like a fridge that needs cleaning. Is there something I should be doing, like putting oil on it or something?

Can anyone point me to a site to show how to make wooden clothes poles? Or give directions/measurements to make some?

I saw a sparrow-like bird in Minnesota at my feeder. It had very gold patches on his head and face, but otherwise completely sparrowish. Do sparrows normally have this coloration and I never noticed it? Is this a mating pattern only? Anyway, it was quite brilliant gold, comparable to a gold finch but only on its head. Looking for a decent internet site that show pictures. Ther searches I've made were filled with people selling stuff.

The neighbours wall, which is the light browney one, our wall is the other.
What our builder has done is cemented my wall to his wall (reinforcement?). Neighbour has complained. BUT, if you look at photo titled "Wall - Outside", the wall is on our property - it is within our boundary as per the line on the floor.

First of all, is this legal, in terms of building regulations etc? and if he does take further action, what can i do to back up my side of the argument.

My neighbour is the neighbour from HELL, i think hes just after some quick cash, because if you notice from the photo, "Gate Pillar Before Wall", he never seemed to complain about that pillar being on his wall, now all of a sudden weve got a wall built hes complainging about cement, that he cant even see!

Please advise, many thanks.

I need to space the posts @ 10' and plan to use 2x8 joists @ 16", 3/4" T&G plywood decking & double 2x8 headers.
Do I have to use a beam or can I use joist hangers and span the entire 10' distance? Will 2x8 be adequate or are 2x10 necessary?

If a ladder has an open length of say 5.2m how high up will it go? I understand it should sit 25 degrees from vertical, so there must be a formulae?

I love the zoysia--soft as carpet, little mowing, survives any weather--but it may take over a neighbor's lawn in a year or two. Help!

I am moving into an old house that had carpet. I removed the carpet to find hardwood with pet stains. Sections of the wood are very dark. I don't believe that most of these stains can be sanded out. If I have the rest of the hardwood sanded, how difficult would it be to replace the damaged boards. The hardwood is red oak. Also, would it match or look like it has been patched?

And is it the sunshine or the temperature that causes more evaporation?

I'm wanting to buy a storage cupboard for my computer room. It'll be 6 ft. high & about 3 ft. wide (two doors on the front). Do I get it in white or light wood grain? I don't want it to stick out like a sore thumb and I don't want the room to look any smaller than it already is.

OK, here's the thing...I raked a lawn today, and it took me 1 hour to do. I had already done it earlier. Thelady's son was down and said i could rake it if I wanted, just clean up the leaves around the yard and sticks. not alot, but lots of small pieces of leaves around here and there. I filled 1 1/2 10 Gal garbage cans to empty in her woods. when i finished he said, so what do ya wan't? I said just give me $20.bucks I'll be happy. He said, 20! but it only took you 1 hour. He gave me the 20 but made it seem like it was alot more than he planned to pay...I couldn't see raking a lawn for any less.! don't you agree?

If most people in the world are right handed why is it that all tape measures read from left to right, this makes marking a measured length with a pencil in your right hand awkward to say the least, unless you read the numbers upside down ?
A right to left numbered tape would seem a lot easyer.
