I'm wanting to buy a storage cupboard for my computer room. It'll be 6 ft. high & about 3 ft. wide (two doors on the front). Do I get it in white or light wood grain? I don't want it to stick out like a sore thumb and I don't want the room to look any smaller than it already is.

Wood is always warmer than a stark white box. Any chance of using a material that can be painted or in some way "colored" (antique) to help it "become one with the walls?" Wallpaper it? Mirror it? Folk art on it?

Of course it depends on what the rest of the room has ...

Whether or not either of those colors would stick out really depends on what is already in your room. If the walls behind the cupboard are plain white, then white may blend better; if they are colored then the white may be a bit bright.
