The procedure is simple and is done by a plastic surgeon using just a local anesthetic. I had it done years ago and I think it was around $300. Prior I tried to use clip ons but they were quite painful when worn for any length of time.

My nail tech had this happen and she now wears clip on earrings. She said that the procedure is expensive. I would assume a plastic surgeon would have to do the procedure and it would be considered cosmetic surgery. Thus, your insurance would not cover the cost.
