i have an oddly shaped log. from its side, it shaped like an egg. its hollow on the inside. girth is maybe 8-9 inches. i want to cut it twice, makeing 3 seperate sections. ... so, not lengthwize, but width?wize.

i guess im going to be using a chainsaw... ive never used one before. do i need to secure the wood like i would with something i'd cut with a handsaw? or can i just set it on the ground, levened on bricks, and just cut it... i dont think i should use a person to hold the log down.. so what do i do?

I'm slightly worried my problem could be mold/moisture related & need professional advice. I have asked a few builders & friends and several people have looked at the problem, but no one can offer an opinion, as they have never seen anything like it!

We moved into a new condo 1/06 - building was completed late 2005. We have a corner unit facing Southeast.

On all of my exterior walls, not only are the nail pops showing thru w/ a black appearance (which I understand happens), I have black "lines" running down the entire length of the wall - exactly & evenly spaced where the studs are located.

This first appeared a few months ago in our living room area & at first, we thought it was just shadows. Then, we noticed it on each of the outer walls in the bedrooms. Over the past few months, the black marks have become darker & more prominent and seem a bit wider. I'm still waiting to hear back from the developer as to what their plan is. In the meantime, I'm getting worried!

The shirt is 60% cotton and 40% Polyester. Its just an old shirt that I have had for years and I thought I might try bleaching it white for a revamped shirt. I like the fit so I'd hoped I could get some more use out of it. It is predominatly dark blue, so I dont know if its possible to ever get all the color out.

My walls are dusty lavender, and I want to paint them a wine, burgundy color without covering a mural that is on two walls and meet in the corner. Does anyone have any creative ideas on how to paint around these murals without covering them? Should I just cameo them, and would it look dumb? I painted the murals myself, and am pretty proud of them, and would like to keep them. My comforter set is burgundy, antique gold, and greens, so I thought the wine/burgundy paint would be pretty. There are three windows in the room, and the room is 16x18. I was worried that the lavender paint peeking through the dark paint would not look good. Any creative suggestions out there? Thankyou

It's the only room that does it. I can only think its to do with condensation. The windows are opened to get rid of condensation and clears up quickly. I cannot understand why the paint is peeling.

I am in the process of painting my living room and we are painting over old paneling. We decided not to take off the paneling because we might not be able to repair what is underneath (budget issues)... We plastered over some of the cracks in it, and it's a little lumpy but not too bad.

I was thinking that maybe doing a textured accent on top of the chose paint color, like sponging, would help hide/blend the lumpiness of the plaster.

Does anyone have any good, easy and cheap techniques for doing textured accents? Are there any other things we could do to hide/blend the lumpiness of the plaster?
