Yes, I have never had a problem. You have to be patient and go one item at a time, do not overload the computer, it is a tiny little processor. Here is the trick, the machine does not have to estimate the weight of an item, it just has to know that something was placed either on the belt (supermarket) or in the bag. Each time you scan an item, when you place it down, place it down a little harder than you would normally or tap the are that expects something to land. This will indicate to the sensor that you have actually put the item down and it will register it and move on to the next item.

LOL-- :) No, I have not!! They are so sensitive, and if the item in bag does not perfectly match what they think it should weigh, it will not let you continue!! Believe it or not, my dog is allergic to dog food, so we feed him those small packages of shaved lunchmeat. Tried to use self-serve with 24 packages of meat- none of them would work!!After every one. I had to wait for someone to clear the register- scan the next on- clear- etc. etc. AAARRRGGHHH!! I only used one other time before that, and nothing that was on sale, rang up at the sale price- what a nightmare!!!

A couple of times- but only because I had very few simple items.
I don't even try it with more than 5 items and never if there's something to large to fit in the bagging area. ( ie: cubes of soda or paper towels)

not at diy stores, they don't seem to be any self-service diy stores here.I've used the self-service at asda, and tesco, however my dad is hopeless with self-service,and avoids them,he'd rather queue up and wait,I've told him he needs to get with the 21st century technology, but he won't,he still needs help with the use of the computer,he only knows how to switch it on/off!he's still trapped in cave man mode,(no tv's,computers, superstores, cars),I think.(no offence intended)

Yeah, but usually there's a scew-up, so I don't use them any more. They usually seem to work OK for my wife, though - how come? Being careful? Patience?
